Yes , it is too young to be adopted. Puppy's usually aren't sold until at least 8 weeks. Some breeders like to wait until 12 weeks, because the puppy is still learning things from Mom. The puppy must also be weaned from Mom and be able to eat food on it's own. The older the pup the better because it tends to adjust better, have a better temperament, be happier, and healthier. I hope someone can convince her to wait at least another 2 weeks, before she gives the pups away. It would be more beneficial for the puppies.

By Law the puppies have to be sold by age 8 weeks. Puppies can live in new places (like ur home) because they came get sick form a new place, if u had a other dog and not clean ur place their can be some illnesses that can stay in wood and carpets for a long time (about 10 yrs and up), and for a puppy six weeks u would have to hand feed soft and formula food every 1-2 hours.
*But if that's the problem then get the puppy and keep it in a puppy crate and keep it in there for a about 2 more week (which is 8 week for the puppy). Then keep it in a warm by having a heating control (leaving it at the seconded lowest level of heat) blanked and putting over the crate (so that the puppy doesn't get it dirty and/or bite the cord) and keep it in the room u sleep in so that the puppy ones that it's not by itself. DON'T LET ANYONE BUT U AND UR WIFE HANDLE THE PUPPY, because u don't know if someone as touch a other dog that can be sick. AND WASH UR HANDS WITH SOPE AND WARM WATER to kill the bacteria. and last only handle the puppy when feeding, give love only 1-2 times a day for about 1 hr or less (helps the puppy not to get sick).
then when the puppy is 8 weeks take it to the a vet check and have fun with ur new puppy!!!!

As long as the puppy is healthy and can eat then six weeks old is o.k. and you should do fine Any younger and it is hard on them. I got one and have had him a while and he was only 5 weeks old(too young) did not eat so i gave him canned goats milk and a canned baby formula mixed together. If the puppy is not real small and seems to be healthy and eats then it should be fine. Worm the puppy soon. You seem like a good person to get the puppy so go make your choice now! It is better to get them somewhere between 6-8 weeks dependinmg on how they are doing. 8 weeks would be better but you should do fine just take good care of the pup. If it can't eat dry food at first moisten it. Then dry food is best.

A puppy can't be sold at any pet store till they're 8 weeks old. Getting ones younger than that runs the risk of them being not fully weaned yet, and they'll not have spent any time away from the other littermates or their mother. You got them TOO young. Standard is 8 to 12 weeks old before you adopt. Take them back and have them with their mother till they're ready. If you don't have the patience now, how are you going to housebreak and obedience train them?

i got my dog at six weeks and nothing bad happened
but there not supposed to leave there mom until they are 8 weeks the puppy should not be allowed on grass near other dogs or handled by a bunch of different people. Also never allow it to go near other dogs poop. They can get a very serious diease that will kill them. I would get the puppy its free

Honestly a puppy should stay with the mother until they are at least 8 weeks old! They are learning skills and learning to socialize right now! Please anyone who is a GOOD breeder will not sell the puppies uintil they are at least 8 weeks old! You may even want to re-think buying a puppy from this breeder as that she may not be breeding properly and may be what is called a back yard breeder! You never want to buy puppys from these breeders!! The dogs are breed to make money and not to make the breed better! Please do a little research. and look for a better breeder!!

A pup SHOULD be left with its mom for at least 8 weeks. But it can survive on its one at 6 weeks, and most people will sell/adopt out pups at 6 weeks.
If you feel the lady is going to re-home them all at 6 weeks anyway you might as well go ahead and adopt one.

six weeks is too young! dogs are not supposed to leave their moms until they are 8 weeks. If puppies leave their moms to eairly they will develope behavior problems and in the long run that is bad. their siblings teach them what bites hurt to much and how to play and be loving.
responsible breeder:
Keeps pups with mom and litter a MINIMUM of 49 days to ensure sibling socialization and important lessons from pups' mother
back yard un-responsible breeder:
Doesn't know leaving litter earlier can cause lifelong temperament problems or staying too long can hurt bonding with humans

i believe so. where it probably wont kill the puppy, its not good for it. most puppies dont leave mom till about 8-9 weeks. it is the safest way to go. if you are planning on buying a puppy from a breeder, make sure it is a reputable breeder and not a mill. ask to see both parents, and make sure the dogs/puppies are all healthy before you bring one home.

Yes, they should stay with the litter for a minimum of 8 weeks. Even though they are weaned, they are learning lessons in behavior from their mother and littermates. Puppies that leave their litter to early are more prone to health and behavioral problems. Many breeders keep their puppies for up to 12 weeks. Mine leave no earlier than 10 weeks.
