He does really well until something stressfull happens in our lives. He uses gum and sun flower seeds to stop short term but he just can't seem to quit long term. He really wants to quit completely but he just doesn't know how.

What I did to quit chewing was I use a non nicotine tabacco product. The bottom line is you have to want to stop its one of the hardest habits to stop because the nicotine gets into your system so fast. It takes about a week for it to leave then he should be fine. He will be grumpy I know I was. I had a friend who quit but he still chews the non nicotine snuff its bascially mint leaves its that feeling of having something in his gum. I hope this helps.

The best thing for him to do is to quit cold turkey. Get a smokers patch for the nicotine and give him some strong chewing gum. I like Spearmint stride.

If the patch does not help, then he should go see a doctor.

Bottom line: When he REALLY wants to quit, he will. As long as he is only 90% committed, he will never quit.
