I suffer from exactly the same problem, and what I do is I apply hair serum on my hair while it's wet, wait for it to dry a little bit, then apply a tiny bit of mousse (extra hold) on the ends before I style it.
I would also suggest going to your salon for a hot oil treatment from time to time, and getting an excellent conditioner for treated hair.

honey you fried your hair.....this is why you do a strand test...did you do one?.....use some vo5 hot oil treatment or go to a salon for a conditioning and get some pro advice....your hair is very brittle right now and it needs some tlc

put some bed head or some gel in it to add some volume and moisture
