Depends on the state, but in Indiana if you shoot it on your property it is legal.

In Indiana you USED to have to own 40 acres of ground, that is not true anymore.

As far as the hunting on 100 acres per person. Not true. I have hunted an 80 acre piece of ground this year and in the first day alone three deer were killed by five hunters. This is a heavily wooded and hilly area and no one was within sight of each other and was completely safe. We have been hunting this ground for almost 20 years and deer are killed every year.

In some states as little as 5 acres even for bonus permits but this is for certain areas of state, if you buy close to a national forest you could have your cake and eat it to.

Where I live, you have to be at least 500 yards away from any inhabited dwelling. Safety is the key issue here. I know a guy that has 40 acres and always tags out. I also know a guy who owns 16 sections and can't fill a tag.

It will vary from state to state. In Indiana you need to have only a certain amount of your property to be tillable acreage. Then you can hunt it without having to buy a license. If you only had forested land, then you could hunt it, but you would need a license.

In Illinois if you own it or have permission you can hunt it no matter what size it is as long as you are a safe distance from houses and public roads.

That 100 acres rule only applies to certain states. ALL have different regulations. Contact the DNR for your state.

It depends on what you are hunting. If you are deer hunting, you need at least 100 acres per person.
