It's a common misconception that tan skin is healthy skin. While it may look healthy, UV rays have an adverse effect on the condition of your skin.
I have an Aunt who always went to tanning beds to get that "healthy" glow and now she looks like a wallet.

Well, I am in my 50s and my skin looks great, I fake bake because in the winter I go through a severe depression because there isn't enough sunlight. Tanning helps me battle the depression without taking drugs. It has nothing to do with ego, also I ride a motorcycle and if I don't tan then my legs are bright white in the summer and my upper torso is tanned so I do it too look better in shorts or a swim suit.

I am in early 60s....in the winter I go to a tanning bed 2 times a week for only 20 min each time....during my lunch break...that night then I lather up with lotion......never burn myself in them
I do this because when I go to Greece I don't want to burn out in the sun on the beaches or from the winds......and I never have....and yes am 60s and can still wear a bikini and get eyed...lol.......I take care of myself
Right now, am on a break from tanning though but will begin couple months before my yearly trip. Its not a ego thing, my dermatologist keeps check on me and has not said I was in high risk the way I am doing this....

I think natural skin is beautiful. I don't see why anyone would want to do that to themselves--it's like putting on an orange, leathery uniform. I live in a college town and I see girls strutting around looking ten years older than they really are...they are so orange at a young age. Who thinks this is attractive? The whole thing bugs me.

I also really can't stand the 'it will never happen to me' mentality. Ignorance is your worst enemy, especially when cancer is concerned.

Most likely they are so desperate to tan their white skin, that they don't care how unsafe it is to use a tanning bead or even lay out in the sun. Not using their brains!

If you are talking about sunless tanning lotions, then they aren't bad for you. If you mean UV beds, then I have no idea, they are just stupid I guess.

because they think its cool, and they look better with burnt skin...just wait till they hit they're late 40's they will look like hell!! and regret being ignorant, or they'll end up having melanoma like both my sisters who both insisted on tanning everyday, and regret it now they have chunks that were taken from they're skin!!
