I don't really know. I'm not a mother, so feel free to correct any of the above and state your own opinions of pros and cons of either.

I want to try to have my own baby, but my husband and I both have fertility issues. We are going to try some infertility treatments, but we are stopping once we get to IVF. If it comes to that, we will adopt. We will only have one child whether it is from a natural conception or adoption.
I think that the real solution for overpopulation is education for women. When women are allowed and encouraged to get a good education and a career, they generally wait longer to have children. Naturally, this leads to having fewer children. Also, educated women are more likely to use birth control and plan their pregnancies.

I'm in favor of both. I had my own daughter, and I loved being pregnant, and it was amazing, and of course the feelings that flooded me when they placed her in my arms were so intense and beautiful. But, I myself was adopted. My birth mother felt like she couldn't give me the home I needed, and my parents who adopted me had an older child but hadn't been able to conceive a second baby, so they applied for adoption and got me. I think adoption is great, I'm considering it, although my husband is against it right now, I'm trying to talk him into it. There are so many young children who need good homes, I would love to have a baby, but I would also love to give a loving home to an older child.

Well to each their own.

I would rather have my own child to carry on my genetic legacy, but if I could not, I would adopt in a heart beat and give a child another chance at life.

well you made really good points to both. but I think a woman should atleast experience child birth atleast once in her life time,so that she really understands that warm fuzzy feeling you are talking about.

If I'm ever told I can no longer reproduce, then I will adopt
