When I turn on the computer it seems like everything freezes. I can use the mouse, but when I try to open a program it won't open. Also I'm not able to shut down the computer once it's started, but I can run Windows just fine in safe mode with nothing freezing and all programs running.

You are probably one of the millions who think you need every friggin program on your pc runnin at once! Rurn some of that crap off! If you have a PC with 256 megs of ram and you are runnin 500 megs of software what do you expect?

Mine does the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure there is a driver, probably the printer driver, that is doing it, but its almost impossible to fix unless the printer company knows of the problem and offers a better driver.

Download free spyware and adware removal software and try to remove any spyware/adware infected your system. Also if you don't have more free space, then delet unused things from your drive and make some free space. Also run antivirus to make sure there is no virus on your drive.

Try to disable startup programs.
I use the program "Chameleon Startup Manager" for it.
You can find it here:
http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).
