Good subjective question.

This is what works for me:
I'm a Pisces and sometimes I have tremendous mood swings,
but I mostly respond to the same music in the kitchen as in the workout room, when I feel frisky, and upbeat I play retro rock and
roll, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Bob Seeger and his Silver Bullet Band, Grace Slick, Linda Rondstadt, a few others.

When I want smooth flowing music to listen to its all Mozart,
Vivaldi, Beethoven (especially the seventh symphony)
Bach's " :Air on the G string" Adagio for strings, and others.

When I want to create a natural space environment, then I play
Kitaro, Tangerine Dream, Mark Isham, Hearts of Space selections, Novus Magnificat, Ray Lynch's celestial soda pop
CD, and other new age artists,

But I also favor big band era music too, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Lester Young, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lionel
Hampton, Charlie Parker, Fats Waller, Bessie Smith,
Les and Larry Elgart, the Dorsey brothers, Jim and Tom,
Les Brown, Sy Oliver, Mel Torme, Helen O'Connell, Helen
Forest, and others.

I also like some parts of Country&Western, but a selected few,
only.

So it all comes down to what mucial genre you prefer, alternative,
grunge, hip-hop, rap, hillbilly, blue grass, creole-cajun (rural)
popular, new age, easy listening, classical, take your pick.

I always felt music appreciation had a lot to do with the music
a person grew up with, for me, it was Elvis and the Beatles,
the Dave Clark Five, and some other one-hit artists whose
career could be compared with that of a shooting star, once
ignited, an intense ball of fire appears, travels across the sky,
and gradually fades out of sight, leaving a visual vapor trail, but
only for an instant, and then it is gone forever.

Thats my message, good luck.

I suggest getting a i-pod nano. They are small and are easy to carry round with while working out. Best music to listen to kinda depends on what music you like. I personally suggest the song Physical by Olivia Newton-John.

Either Rap or Rock. You need something kinda rough and gritty to get you ready. Nothing happy and cheery but definatly medium tempo.

well actually it depends on what you do. if you lift weights then you should listen to the above music.

if you do aerobics then it shou;ld be the cheery type of music but upbeat

Rock and Roll :-) Not the acid version of it but the oldies and the goodies :-) Your basically looking for an upbeat song and rock and roll is full of that.

Fun dance/pop and fast rock.
All American Rejects are good ("Dirty Little Secret.")
Rap might be good depending on your taste.

Really, anything that gets you going, that makes you want to dance!!
