It's an AWESOME program, but can be difficult to use and no way someone can explain here in Answers unless you had a specific problem. Try getting a book like Photoshop for Dummies.... It will take you through step by step and give you practice tutorials and stuff like that.
I know you already have the program but Photoshop Elements has most of the commonly used parts of Photoshop and isn't near as expensive or hard to use.

I have an older version of Photoshop, version 7. Adobe makes books with tutorials that are pretty good to get started. I've been using Photoshop for over 5 years, I love it. I'm always learning new things on it. I suggest buying one of Adobe's books, like I said, it comes with a tutorial CD ROM, check it out. You can get them at about any university bookstore. Most graphic design college programs offer classes in photoshop. I have a friend who took 3 years of photoshop. He's pretty good.

It's a bit intimidating at first because there are so many options available, but it is an extremely useful program. I'd suggest searching online for tutorials or something, or buy a book on it and work your way through it, you'll learn a lot! :)
Who knows? Maybe you'll find that you have fun doing that sort of thing and end up doing freelance work with it as a hobby, that's what happened with me and Flash.

I have the program and like it very much. That said I can't figure out how to do practically anything with it. I've learned a few things through trial and error, but that's about it. I think there's a help section that has a complete manual in it, but I also think it REALLY long. If you got the stamina go for it, cause it's worth it. But you'll definitely be sitting their reading for awhile.

I have used it for about 15 years now and find it to be wonderful, even if it doesn't always do exactly what I want. Usually that is my fault for not understanding layers, etc better. I would recommend using the tutorials and picking up a couple of books at the library.
First you want to find an image you want to work with. Then determine how you want to change it. Next, check the tutorials for how to instruction that sort of matches what you want to do. I rarely find instruction for exactly what I want to do. Open the image and follow the instructions as closely as your circumstances permit. Then look back and see if you like what you did. If you like it, good. If not close it and start again. The idea is to play with it and learn by playing. Do not push for professional results right from the start.

I do not have it, however, many Photographers I have known do use it. It is quite complicated. In fact, one of them said it took him 5 years to really understand it. You may want to take a class on it at your local College or Computer School as you really will need one. Once you do master it you will be amazed at the money you can charge people to use it. It is great for touching up modeling pirctures and working with graphics and many other programs. It will be great for you resume if you are pursuing related fields.
Really, look into a class. You will have a very hard time mastering it alone.

That's a fantastic program, I have it and utilize it a lot. There's a lot of different tools, and to tell you how to use it on this forum is almost impossible. My suggestion is to go to your local book store, and find the book "Photoshop for Dummies". It's a yellow and black book that will tell you in immense detail how to use the program. It's an expensive program, don't get rid of it!!
