no this is not right....although l cannot work out you values..it easy to work out you are well miffed.....you 'friend' has ripped you off...l doubt in reality if you will see your cash again...but there are things to learn from this experience.
However you could ask for a meeting with your friend..and as a last throw of the dice see if he will help you out or there is any chance, If no joy report the trader to trading standards..they are a dog with no teeth..but at least its registered.

If he owns a garage, then legally you have a lot of rights, including 'the car must be fit for purpose', which obviously with the second and third, they have not been.
If you took him to a small claims court (which is so much easier than you would believe) then you would, if the above is correct, very simply win.
Best thing to do is to write down to him or her in a letter detailing what you want as an outcome of this all explaining that you will take this to the small claims court etc. That will probably work, but if not do it, you will at least have the chance to air your views to a magistrate, so if you get awarded nothing at the end of the day it will be because he believes youhave not been ripped off, so at least there is closure. Go to the citizens advice beaureax, they are you best starting point, with a letter typed out and see what they think.
Hope this helps, oh and go sleep with his/her other half too...

Not much of a friend eh? I would cut your losses and go to a reputable company. There are lots out there offering good quality cars for a small downpayment and offering good credit deals. You would also get a limited warranty with any of these cars. You might also try your local paper car ads, you never know, you might find a little bargain on your doorstep. And ditch the 'friend'

It's not a good idea to do business with friends / family. At the end of the day, no matter how close you are, they're just out to make money and will probably abuse your trust to con you as you trust that he has the knowledge to advise you.
At least when you deal with strangers, you are naturally more cautious and are less likely to be ripped off. You're also more likely to barter with a stranger.

First of all, get a refund on your tax disc. Next, tell this so called froend of yours, that unless he gives you a better deal, or your money back that you have lost, you are going to the department of Fair trading, and wil be in touch with your local newspaper to give them the story as well. You have to tell this guy how mad you are about his "deals" and You will never buy from him again and you will make sure that everyone you know will hear about it.

If you still have the road tax disc you can get a refund on it. Take it to your local post office. Explain to them what's happened and they'll give you a form to fill in. You'll get your money back there and then. It worked for me.
When you've done this gone and punch your 'mate' in the nose!
Good luck.

He's not a friend. Write to him and tell him what you want to be done about the situation. Keep a record/copy of all correspondence and threaten him with the small claims court.

Without knowing the full details, age, model, spec, mileage, condition of any of the cars you are speaking of, it is difficult to say if you have been ripped off or not. If it is your friend, i would tell him you are peeved, and ask for more compo.
