Masters is a big commitment (not as big as PHD but still ...) You may be looking at 3-5 years if you do it (2-year program) part-time, just because you do not have a lot pf spare time for classes. You don't want to think of masters degree as of education, but as of means of transforming your career. After you get your masters, you will spend abnother 30-40 years working in that field. You might as well be sure. You have to find something that you like. If you completely do not care and just want to make money, then my answer won't help you much. I believe that finding something you like will help you a lot - you will like it; you will do good at classes and at your job and will get promoted faster.

Usually working for some time, evaluating options and looking around is a good way to start. You can try certificate programs first. They do not have to be online. If you were from Boston, USA, then I would recommend at Harvard Extension School. It offers flexible class schedule for those who work. There must be similar institutions around you, unless you live in suburbs. The good thing about taking a class here and there are: (1) There is not muc commitment (2) The company usually pays for it (3) Its a good resume builder in the mean time; you have a potential to earn more even before you get masters.

So I would recommend trying conventional continuing education after work first. Online degrees are a bit more complicated in my opionion. As far as choosing the major - I can't help you too much. I specialize in IT and do not know too much about Human Services. I would say that this is your responsibility to figure out. The decision has to be yours.
