How can I trust they are telling the truth?
Some crimes are unforgivable.
Trust takes time. Perhaps if the person was volunteering to help others then over time I too would come to trust them. I don't feel bad for this viewpoint since as long as the victim is suffering so should the offender.

This is a delicate question with two parts to it.
1. Can you forgive and accept such a person? My answer would be yes. If they truly regret what they've done and are living a responsible life now, then they deserve a second chance just like anyone else.
2. Would it be wise/responsible to trust such a person again? If you have kids, it's not likely that you would ever truly trust them with your kids. Because what if they are just hiding it and acting the way people expect them to act? So from that standpoint, if I had kids, I wouldn't let them alone with this person ever. If I didn't have kids and we got married and had kids together, I suppose I'd be OK with that as long as there's been no other red flags.

the term sex offender has become too loose and all encompassing to have any specific meaning. If someone streaked across a soccer feild or a 19 yr old knooked up a 17 yr old and the parents got po'd, (or even two 16 yr olds) then i can let it slide.
Lets assume the dramatic worse, i wouldn't personally want anything to do with them.

Just like the other people who think, it would depend on the actual crime.
Not everyone who is labeles a sex offender is a child molester or rapist.
If you were 19 and had sex with a 16 year old and got that label I don't think I would care.
If a 35 yo molested a baby then they should dead.

I would think it kind of depends on the degree of their offense.
People get in trouble for date rape when there is more to the story...like the girl/guy is looking for attention.
People get in trouble for indecency with a minor even in consensual situations. (I was only 15 when I had sex with my 19 year old bf - technically he would be a sex offender)
People can even be legally titled a sex offender for having sex in a public place.
So really your question is kind of hard to answer with out knowing the severity of the situation.
Would I forgive a father who molests his teenage daughter? NO
Would I forgive a priest for molesting a young alter boy? NO
Would I forgive a forceful and violent rape? Probably not unless there were lots of drugs or alcohol involved and the person were now sober.
Now I had a friend who had an older brother molest her once when she was young... he was 13 and she was 6. She forgave him because it was the one time and as an adult she kind of understood teenage experimental hormones.
It entirely depends on the situation and what is in your heart for forgiveness.

i would find it very difficult to give a sex offender a second chance, even if he is clean and above water , i would not condemn him or judge him but i will certainly not have any thing to do with him, as the saying goes once a thief always a thief and i would definitely feel uncomfortable when he is around

This is a really big thing to have on your record. If it happened when they were very young, I may try giving them a second chance. But if they were an adult, I'd never be able to completely trust them.

with out evaluating the sentences for intercourse crimes to those for different categories of crime, the undertaking is pertaining to to the certainty that we gained't continually verify who will re-offend and who won't. The case you cite pertaining to to the lady who grew to become up after being abducted 18 years in the past is uncommon. in the different occasion, the certainty which you understand the guy is a intercourse criminal ability others can besides, and you're able to tell others approximately it. we don't would desire to fasten him up for flirting with females. you probably did no longer say how previous those females have been, and how previous he's. whilst the recidivism value is bigger than common for intercourse offenders, no longer each and every criminal re-offends. could we deliver each and every criminal to detention center for existence on the prospect they might re-offend? i'm no longer chuffed with intercourse offenders the two. Their previous habit and skill destiny habit is complicated at superb. and you're disgusted and angered via it. that would not propose a miles-accomplishing and unpractical answer could be sought. the government does in certainty have faith intercourse abuse is a great deal. seem on the extremely some rules that have been surpassed merely interior the previous 5 years on my own pertaining to to intercourse offenders.

there is no way that i would trust a sex offender again even if its a woman because they violated someone elses body and scared them emotionally for life and making them not be able to trust anyone and even if they told the truth they cant be trusted again because the fact that they still have that pervert in their head it can always come back out
