Not necessary. It's all depend on the person regardless what religion he/she follows. I'm Buddhist but I'm pretty sure almost all religions out there teach their followers to be kind, loving, respectful, etc... However, like any religions, there are still bad seeds across the board. One thing I have to say about Buddhism though, it might appears that way because it's more of an inclusive religion rather than an exclusive religion, meaning that it doesn't follow one book and if anybody who do not believe in that book will go to hell.

A Buddhist is a person who: accepts that all things are impermanent and nothing is permanent, accepts that all things impermanent bring suffering, accepts that all phenomena are illusory and empty, and accepts that enlightment is beyond concepts.
The only people on the planet who are the most "loving" are those who have, no matter WHAT religion or philsophy, have cultivated an ultimate altruistic intention. Love knows no boundaries.

No (I am a Buddhist, and I have met more loving people than me. One of them is a spiritualist). Love is not resticted by religion. Loving people are the most loving people on the planet...
