Why do soo many people stress breast feeding? I know how good it is for the baby and the benefits, but why don't people (partner, nurses, and so on) let the mom decide? Why pressure them so much?

Breast feeding is not for everyone. Not everyone is comfortable doing this. Also it is a HUGE stress on the mom. I know it was extremely difficult for me to do.

I don't mean to sound RUDE or anything.

It's just breast feeding seems to be almost like a religion or view of religion. Most people are either for it or against.

Some people on here are busy bodies and have nothing better to do than put others down for not doing the same things they do. As a mother who breastfed I can say this, a fed baby is a happy baby.

Judging some of these women's answers, I don't even think most of them have children. If they do, God help us all.

Honey, i know exactly were your coming from. While your pregnant you always plan on breast feeding your baby but it doesn't always work out the way you plan. I had a women tell my husband, at a b-day party for my nephew, that i should be breast feeding and how good it is for the baby. Like i already didn't know and was stressed already because i was trying to breast feed but he just wouldn't latch on. The think that pissed me off so bad was they were speaking Spanish, which really isn't my thing, so i couldn't defend myself since i had no clue what they were talking about. My husband just turned and looked at me, he couldn't say anything rude to her so we just let it go. So i completely understand where your coming from. I'm pregnant with my second child now and have huge plans for breast feeding this one! Hopefully I'll stick with it regardless of what anyone else says, my baby will be healthy no matter what i decide.

It's a personal preference. Most people don't stress, just a select few that make up a big stink. I plan on breastfeeding but I have been talked to by both those for and against it. It's very healthy for the baby but other than that I can't see any reason why people would stress about it.

You answered your own question. It is the best food for the baby and is what nature intended. It further provides unparalleled bonding between mother and child and studies have shown increased developmental benefits for the child.

It is not 'comfortable' to BEAR a child, yet we do it, again and again. I am sorry it was so stressful for you, but many women enjoy the experience.

Maybe your idea of breastfeeding is somewhat 'unattractive' to you?....Not certain but our attitudes play a huge part in how we relate to a lot of life's experiences.

But yes, you are right, the final decision is up to the Mother AND yes, some women cannot breastfeed for a myriad of reasons.

You CANT breast feed if you stress out about it. Your milk wont let down, and your baby will have colic and be miserable.

My mom couldnt breast feed because she was just too stressed over the process.

Still, every effort should be made. Its silly to not give your child the absolute best you can just because you dont like the idea of something. Its just selfish. But certainly there are people who just simply arent cut out for it. And its no ones place to judge them or their reasons.

Because it has been proven to be healthiest for mothers and for babies to do what is biologically expected.....breastfeeding.

My question is why they feel the need to do it in public in plain view of anyone walking by.
