TV drama. Law enforcement officers respect each other no matter what the branch of service. I come from a law enforcement family, both municipal and federal, and I can assure you that TV is not real life. Yes, there are jurisdictional issues that come up from time to time, but when a 10-13 call goes out, all those who carry a badge will come to help.

I see the 'cop haters' are out in full force today. Losers.

There are "turf" conflicts between federal, state and local thugs in some instances, but by and large they are simply different arms of the same authoritarian system, with the same goals. It's kind of like democrats and republicans in congress. They'll fight on camera, but they become an instant team when it comes to squashing third parties and protecting incumbents.

This is just a tv thing. I actually very rarely meet up with federal police (rcmp) in my neck of the woods. They usually work with our drug unit during joint forces operations. Regular beat cops don't deal with them too often and when we do there is no animosity.

I think the local Gestapo hate everybody, even each other. I'm not being a smart a**, only truthful. I have never in my life had a police officer help me, even when I needed help. I can't imagine them liking people that come in with more authority on certain crimes that happen in their jurisdiction.

It's overplayed on television, but it does happen. More often than not it's usually from not sharing information.
