It should be noted that the Ocean Spray kind of Cranberry cocktail is not that great for you because it is very high in sugar. If you suffer from chronic UTI's then consider the cranberry in a pill form with more than 500 IU's. This gives you the benefit of the cranberry minus the sugar.

Cranberry is the fruit of a shrub. It has been used in the form of juice for urinary tract infections (UTIs). Clinical evidence supports the claim that regular drinking of cranberry juice can prevent UTIs. This effect has been shown to be due to tannins in cranberries known as proanthocyanidins that inhibit the adherence of E. coli fimbriae to uroepithelial cells (4) (5). In vitro studies have shown that cranberry juice also inhibits the adhesion of H. pylori to human gastric mucosa (7) . A trial done in China suggests that regular consumption of cranberry juice can suppress H. pylori infection, a major cause of peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancer (6). Cranberry juice is also used to prevent gum disease. Studies suggest that cranberry constituents can prevent plaque formation and the development of gum disease by demonstrating anti-colonizing and anti-adhesion properties in plaque-causing bacteria (8) (9). Extracts of cranberries have been shown to have anti-proliferative effects against several cancer cell lines in vitro including prostate (10) (11), liver (12), breast (13), colon (11) (14), and oral (11). Patients on warfarin should use cranberry juice with caution (15).

Cranberries and cranberry juice are excellant for the kidneys and the urinary bladder...especially when a female is prone to infections in the kidneys or urinary bladder.

I cannot add any technicalities but I know from personal experience that while taking antibiotics, cranberry juice or pills prevent yeast infections.

cranberry juice is good for your blood.Also, it is good for your bones because it contains a protein called klietogliceride, which helps build bones. It may even be healthier for bones than milk.
