my 12 year old son is on my passport and we are planning to go to frane soon, do i need to get him his own separate passport or is he ok travelling on mine??

He can remain on yours until either he turns sixteen or your passport runs out, whichever comes first. Then he will need his own passport. So, he will be fine to travel on your passport.

I do recommend if you did go to a country outside the EU (especially somewhere like the US, where security is so hefty) that you just go ahead and get him his own passport just to be one the safe side. However, he will be fine going to France with you.

He does need his own passport. Better do it soon before the new regulations go into effect where he will need to go for a personal interview!! If you hurry you can simply do the postal system. By the way, it is the UK's government requirement and not France's that he should have his own.

until your passport runs out its fine for u to have him on yours , but as soon as yours runs out u need separate ones .. check with the link ..
