Vitamin C is something that the body can only use so much of at a time and it is not something that can be stored by the body for future use so taking more than is needed will be thrown off by the body so why bother overdoing it in the first place?

No. Vitamin C is water soluable, and therefore does dot get stored by the body. Too much Vitamin C may cause diarreah, and possibly a mild pain in the kidneys (lower back) as they try to eliminate the excess vitamin.

When any of these symptoms occur, just cut back.

One other thing: Do not cut your vitamin C intake drastically and suddenly, or you will become extremely susceptible to a cold.

Actually no, for most if not all of the vitamin C ends up eliminated in urine. Absolutely no scientific proof til now that vitamin C might be that miraculous substance everyone tells us about. All that popularity came from linus pauling, a former nobel prize winner, who had the belief, thats it THE BELIEF that vitamins if taken in large doses could be good for us. Eat an orange, or spinach ... Much better than pills

Generally, your body will simply eliminate excess vitamin C (a water soluable vitamin). Too much vitamin C will cause diarrhea (Which can be corrected by lowering the dose). Suddenly stopping from megadoses of vitamin C can cause symptoms of vitamin C deficiency.

Vitamin C is not stored in the body. The body takes what it needs and eliminates the rest through urine.

Actually, too much vitamin c can be toxic. Moderation is the key. Our bodies do not store vitamin c, so it is pointless in overdosing. All reserves are expelled through the urine.

Besides being useless in excessive quantity, vitamin C can overstimulate your nervous system, and once you stop using it (or diminish the dosage) your body will respond as if you have vitamin C defficiency.
