My son is ate this stage in his eating where he only eats noodles. Mac and cheese, spaghetti, Ramen noodles, ANY noodle. But not much else which concerns me. The only veggie he will eat is corn and the only fruit he will eat is applesauce, no raw veggies and no fresh fruit. I have tried to blend them in foods, hide them in food, everything and he will put it his mouth and them spit it out all over the table. I hate to push it on him and make him hate them even more and I hate wasting all that food too. Any ideas on how to introduce more healthy choices? Or should I write it off as a stage and try at a later time?

Let him eat what he wants to eat, but keep introducing new foods. He wants to eat noodles but no veggies/fruits--no big deal. Believe it or not, he knows what he needs and when he needs it. Doctors say to let them eat what they'll eat and not to force new foods too much.

He probably doesn't *hate* veggies/fruits, he's just not used to them. Try giving him a plate of food with noodles and a few fruits and veggies. When he eats a noodle, say "Yumm!" and then pick up a piece of fruit and say "Yumm!" and hand it to him. Maybe he'll try it if he thinks it's "Yumm" just like noodles.

Toddlers appetites drop off at this age - they just don't need the calories they did as an infant when they were growing so quickly. They also typically become pickier, so don't sweat it too much.

Let him choose from whatever you are having for dinner. Make sure there is one thing he at least sort of likes on the table and keep offering others to him. If there ain't applesauce & noodles on the table he can't eat just that! He won't starve and may learn to like more things.

Try baked pasta with cheese, spaghetti sauce if you wish, and lots of chopped veggies. Chop them up tiny and maybe he'll get a vegetable in there by accident.

Some unusual things my son likes are:
Sauted mushrooms
Edamame (soy beans)
Potstickers/eggrolls
Baked pea pods (they come as croutons)

It takes forever for a child to get used to or like a new food. What is working for us is to introduce a new food a few times and request "just a bite." After about three times, the child then gets that food, and really small quantities of the food or foods he likes. If he eats the new food, he gets more of the food he likes. Trust me, this stuff takes time and little kids can be as stubborn as the day is long! But know you are doing the right thing by trying to provide a balanced and varied diet!

My child at that age loved kiwi fruit and cherries, cut into small pieces. Just a suggestion.
