I am getting married on July 2007 for the ceremony we are paying $400 but we also need to give a donation to the pastor who id going to marry us. we are on a budget but we also dont want to be cheap. What would be a good donation?
PLEASE ADVICE

Call the church office and ask what the usual donation is. They will gladly help you out.

most churches include all the costs in one price. If you speak with the priest and explain the situation I'm sure he'd be happy with $100. If this is taking place outside the church some fees can run up to $500. I would talk to the pastor first before deciding on a number.

Are you referring to a gratuity? His fee is not included in the $400 ceremony price? Or is that the church rental fee? Are you members of this church?

If your are members then $100+ is not out of line. I knew a minister who was given $200 for his services 20 years ago & was insulted, so you have to decide.

If you have 'hired' this person then he/she should already be getting his fee for his services so $75+ would be acceptable.

if i remember right....some say the rule of thumb is 10% of your monthly income.
