was going to donate blood last week and they wouldnt let me because my pulse was too high with 10 irregular beats per minute. my heart rate was good, temp. was normal. they recommended i see my doctor. what causes a high pulse?

What you've said doesn't make sense. You said your pulse was too high, but your heart rate was good. That is the same thing. Now you may be having an irregular pulse, maybe that is what they're talking about. Make sure you go see a doctor anyway. You may have had, or may be having a heart attack. You never know...as there is such things as a silent heart attack...with no signs or symptoms. Your best bet is to go and get checked out by a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have no clue how they determined that you have 10 irregular beats and what was your pulse that it was too high to donate?? That makes no sense at all. Everyone has a different resting heart rate. Next time you have a doctor's appointment you can ask for an EKG if you want to check your heart rhythm. Honestly, it makes no sense to me. I give blood all the time, and those people give some strange excuses for refusing your blood.
