I think this is a matter of personal preference. I know people who would take it off at night, or for showering. And I know others who never take off their ring.
There's nothing wrong with wearing it all the time, it won't damage your finger, and showering won't hurt it.
Given that taking it on and off so much could provide lots of opportunities to lose it, and that your wife may may take it the wrong way, my suggestion is to just keep it on all the time. Make it just as a part of you, as your marriage will be.
PS: congratulations on your engagement, I hope you and your wife have a long, happy, and healthy marriage.

It's really more of a personal thing. I wear mine all the time - shower, bed, doing dishes, whatever. The only time I take it off is if I'm using some sort of harsh chemical that might damage it.
Some people remove them because it irritates their skin to wear a ring for extended periods of time, or because they work somewhere that it would be hazardous, or because it's simply not comfortable (which a jeweler should be able to fix), or any number of other reasons. But for the most part, unless you have a reason to take it off, there's no harm in wearing it all the time.
Congratulations, by the way!

Depends on the quality of the ring. The nicer gold (higher karat) means the softer it is. Platinum is much harder and can withstain a lot more damage. If you have a bunch of stones you may not want to wear it because of the soap scum that will fog up the gems. If you only have a few prongs on the main stone, you may want to be careful or add more prongs for security.
Personally, I don't wear mine in the shower or when I sleep. It is a hassle to keep it clean and I'm violent enough as it is and don't want to lose any stones. I do wear it when I'm washing my hands so it doesn't fall down the drain.

With the girlfriend's ring, it depends on the activity level. An engagement ring is not very durable if treated roughly. Some women remove theirs under the conditions you mentioned.
If you are talking about your ring, it is customary to wear it at all times. If you take it off, there will likely be trouble with your wife. You will get used to is in a few weeks and won't even notice it.

I can't sleep in any jewelry so I take mine off at night. I also take it off when cooking and doing the dishes. The ring is a symbol or marriage anyway. So people don't even have rings but that doesn't make them any less in love or married than a person with a ring.

I usually take it off at night because my fingers swell slightly at night and it makes it a little tight. I ALWAYS take my ring off before taking a shower. It could slip off your hand and its not worth the risk. The ring is just a symbol of love, so it's ok if she doesn't wear it 24/7.

I wear mine when I leave the house. I take it off at night when I sleep and also take it off in the shower, when I exercise and when I swim. Chlorine isn't good for gold.
When I am traveling and need to take my rings off at night, I remove then and then slip them on my watch band, close the buckle and place that on the nightstand to keep from losing them.
My husband doesn't wear a ring. He has one but just doesn't wear it because of his job.

Yea you can take it off. I dont like to wear rings on the shower because conditioner and soap gets stuck in the diamonds. I usually wear rings to bed though.

That is entirely up to you... You can wear it a night and in the shower (as long as it is not to lose)...
Personally, I take my rings off for both and my husband is a carpenter so he does not wear his to work.. So it really depends on what you fell like doing.

You should wear a wedding ring at all times. Rarely take it off. However, if you have an occupation where it could be a hazard, such as construction, etc., then you would not wear it to work.
