My husband and I decided to read the bible in a year, however I have questions I need answered and I don't want to overload my pastor so Yahoo Community HELP!!!!!!:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
Why put enmity between the serpant and the woman (EVE) only?

How could Adam live 930 years?

Gen 6:4 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and
also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Nephilim were supposed to be giants? Is this the only mention of them in the Bible?

What was God's First covenant?

Answers are very long.....But truth
God put enmity between woman and the serpant so that she would no longer be decieved by him.
Enmity means: the quality of being enemies, hatred, or ill will towards each other. He done this as a advantange for us that we would no longer be fooled by this creature. One less to deal with. This in fact does not just pretain to women but mankind in general.

In the Old testment 930 years of life was not such a big thing, God gave his people long life until it satisfied them. But with each generation sin got worst and with each generation people lived shorter. Thus the wages of sin are death. Until now when living to be 70 in fact looks old. Life is shortened because of death. Life is shortened because our fathers, and our fathers, father, and we ourselves chose to live in sin.. As you read your bible you will find that long life was indeed a promise from God and that through our sin we shorten it..

Gen 6:44; Numbers 13:33; giants the hebrew word left untranslated by the revisers, the name of one of the canaanitish tribes. The reviser have however translated the Hebrew gribborim, in Gen. 6:4 to "mighty men"..

God's 1st covenant
Covenant
A contract or agreement between two parties. In the Old Testament the Hebrew word berith is always thus translated. Berith is derived from a root which means “to cut,” and hence a covenant is a “cutting,” with reference to the cutting or dividing of animals into two parts, and the contracting parties passing between them, in making a covenant (Gen. 15; Jer_34:18, Jer_34:19).
The corresponding word in the New Testament Greek is diatheke, which is, however, rendered “testament” generally in the Authorized Version. It ought to be rendered, just as the word berith of the Old Testament, “covenant.”
This word is used
(1.) of a covenant or compact between man and man (Gen_21:32), or between tribes or nations (1Sa_11:1; Jos_9:6, Jos_9:15). In entering into a convenant, Jehovah was solemnly called on to witness the transaction (Gen_31:50), and hence it was called a “covenant of the Lord” (1Sa_20:8). The marriage compact is called “the covenant of God” (Pro_2:17), because the marriage was made in God's name. Wicked men are spoken of as acting as if they had made a “covenant with death” not to destroy them, or with hell not to devour them (Isa_28:15, Isa_28:18).
(2.) The word is used with reference to God's revelation of himself in the way of promise or of favour to men. Thus God's promise to Noah after the Flood is called a covenant (Gen. 9; Jer_33:20, “my covenant”). We have an account of God's covernant with Abraham (Gen. 17, compare Lev_26:42), of the covenant of the priesthood (Num_25:12, Num_25:13; Deu_33:9; Neh_13:29), and of the covenant of Sinai (Exo_34:27, Exo_34:28; Lev_26:15), which was afterwards renewed at different times in the history of Israel (Deut. 29; Josh. 24; 2 Chr. 15; 23; 29; 34; Ezra 10; Neh. 9). In conformity with human custom, God's covenant is said to be confirmed with an oath (Deu_4:31; Psa_89:3), and to be accompanied by a sign (Gen. 9; 17). Hence the covenant is called God's “counsel,” “oath,” “promise” (Psa_89:3, Psa_89:4; Psa_105:8-11; Heb_6:13-20; Luk_1:68-75). God's covenant consists wholly in the bestowal of blessing (Isa_59:21; Jer_31:33, Jer_31:34).
The term covenant is also used to designate the regular succession of day and night (Jer_33:20), the Sabbath (Exo_31:16), circumcision (Gen_17:9, Gen_17:10), and in general any ordinance of God (Jer_34:13, Jer_34:14).
A “covenant of salt” signifies an everlasting covenant, in the sealing or ratifying of which salt, as an emblem of perpetuity, is used (Num_18:19; Lev_2:13; 2Ch_13:5).
COVENANT OF WORKS, the constitution under which Adam was placed at his creation. In this covenant,
(1.) The contracting parties were
(a.) God the moral Governor, and
(b.) Adam, a free moral agent, and representative of all his natural posterity (Rom_5:12-19).
(2.) The promise was “life” (Mat_19:16, Mat_19:17; Gal_3:12).
(3.) The condition was perfect obedience to the law, the test in this case being abstaining from eating the fruit of the “tree of knowledge,” etc.
(4.) The penalty was death (Gen_2:16, Gen_2:17).
This covenant is also called a covenant of nature, as made with man in his natural or unfallen state; a covenant of life, because “life” was the promise attached to obedience; and a legal covenant, because it demanded perfect obedience to the law.
The “tree of life” was the outward sign and seal of that life which was promised in the covenant, and hence it is usually called the seal of that covenant.
This covenant is abrogated under the gospel, inasmuch as Christ has fulfilled all its conditions in behalf of his people, and now offers salvation on the condition of faith.
It is still in force, however, as it rests on the immutable justice of God, and is binding on all who have not fled to Christ and accepted his righteousness.
CONVENANT OF GRACE, the eternal plan of redemption entered into by the three persons of the Godhead, and carried out by them in its several parts. In it the Father represented the Godhead in its indivisible sovereignty, and the Son his people as their surety (Joh_17:4, Joh_17:6, Joh_17:9; Isa_42:6; Psa_89:3).
The conditions of this covenant were,
(1.) On the part of the Father
(a.) all needful preparation to the Son for the accomplishment of his work (Heb_10:5; Isa_42:1-7);
(b.) support in the work (Luk_22:43); and
(c.) a glorious reward in the exaltation of Christ when his work was done (Phi_2:6-11), his investiture with universal dominion (Joh_5:22; Psa_110:1), his having the administration of the covenant committed into his hands (Mat_28:18; Joh_1:12; Joh_17:2; Act_2:33), and in the final salvation of all his people (Isa_35:10; Isa_53:10, Isa_53:11; Jer_31:33; Tit_1:2).
(2.) On the part of the Son the conditions were
(a.) his becoming incarnate (Gal_4:4, Gal_4:5); and
(b.) as the second Adam his representing all his people, assuming their place and undertaking all their obligations under the violated covenant of works;
(c.) obeying the law (Psa_40:8; Isa_42:21; Joh_9:4, Joh_9:5), and
(d.) suffering its penalty (Isa_53:1-12; 2Co_5:21; Gal_3:13), in their stead.
Christ, the mediator of, fulfils all its conditions in behalf of his people, and dispenses to them all its blessings. In Heb_8:6; Heb_9:15; Heb_12:24, this title is given to Christ. (See DISPENSATION.)

Gen. 3:15 isn't discussing just the immediate offspring of Eve. There is a particular "child" being discussed. This child is Jesus. The serpent represents Satan. These two individuals are enemies. Orthodox Christianity believes that Jesus was conceived by a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit,no human father involved. (This is another discussion, so I'll leave it at that.)

Adam being 930 years old...He was supposed to have lived forever. It seems as if living just that long was quite a come down on his life expectancy. Notice that, with the exception of Metheuselah, each generation after has a shorter life. Abram, as you will soon see, lived to be over 100 years old.

Nephilim~here's Wiki's take: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephilim
It is too large to chat about here. But, I do believe they are mentioned again, but by other names. Consider the fact that they exist pre-flood, so they would have died in the flood. See also Num.13:32 and Ezek. 32:20-28.

I am a Christian who worships as a Presbyterian (PCA), because I adhere to Covenant theology my answer might be confusing to you. I would say that the God's first covenant is of Redemption. This is between God the Father and God the Son (Jesus). The covenant you are probably asking about would be the Covenant of Works (Adam and Eve). This is followed by the Covenant of Grace.

The Nephilim were the offspring of materialized angels, who had rebelled and came to the earth and conceived, the nephilim were hybrids. They were also destroyed during the flood, so the giants that are spoken of in Numbers; that is the sons of Anak, were indeed giants but they were not the actual Nephilim, but rather nephilim-like in appearance because they were giants.

Gen 3:15; The first prophesy mentioned in the Bible:
The Serpent=Satan
Offspring or seed=Jesus
The Woman=Spiritual(that is it is not referring to Eve)

At some point, God decided that nobody would live past 100 years.

The Nephilim were only really mentioned in that first part. Certain mystics believe that the Nephilim will return to the earth within a few years.

God's First covenant was never again flooding the earth.

The offspring of the woman is Jesus.
Adam would have had good genetics, so could have lived very long. He wasn't the oldest person. Science tells that around the time of the flood there was a super-novae eruption. This radiation could have been used to shorten mans life span.
The giants were around in the time of David, too. ( look in Kings).
I believe the first was the rainbow.

Melchizedek Said: In relation to the Fall, how could this part of Genesis be interpreted even if a little controversial? Love Said: We should be more mature than to fall into imaginations. God is not the Author of Confusion Satan is and those who unwittingly follow him. The bible is only interpreted one way! To interpret the bible you have to be Born again! (John 3:3 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus clearly states that you cannot understand Him or His kingdom until you have been adopted by Jesus Christ. Many call themselves Christian that is why we have confusion! Many have a head knowledge of Jesus BUT do not know him. (1 John 4:6 KJV) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Like you indicate You are not stable in your belief! We are not Orphans! Jesus gives us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. Sometimes His children are deceived by Satan BUT never lost ! And If we continue to Read Gods Word and Ask His Spirit to explain we will become Mature. (Romans 8:29 KJV) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. In other words God has predestined US to be conformed to be like Jesus Because HE knew US by His foreknowledge! He knew us and that we would choose him. We still had to choose. Maranatha
