We bought ourselves a large toaster oven, but don't have any idea of the range of its uses. What can all be made? I've seen recipes, but we need practical ideas from actual users as to ease of usage and cleaning, what containers can be used, what doesn't work, etc. We would appreciate any tips, including how to adapt old recipes for use in a toaster oven. Thanks very much!

Avoid using aluminum foil to cover baking racks or drip pans, this will cause the oven to over heat. Anything that fits in it can be baked in it. I got a large toaster/rotissary for christmas as my condo lacks a traditional oven, and have used it for fish, pizza, beef, pork, cookies, bread, etc. Anything that I would cook in a regular oven. Times are pretty much the same, keep an eye on it until you get used to any temperature variance. Make sure of the style of oven you have. Mine is a traditional conduction. Yours may be convection and times will need to be adjusted, or the temperature will need to be adjusted. From my understanding, you want to reduce cook time by about 5-15 minutes, depending on what you're cooking, or reduce heat by 25-50 degrees for a convection oven.

Mine is very easy to clean, all drip and crumb pans just slide out and are dishwasher safe. Refer to the manual for cleaning directions, usually you want to avoid scouring pads and such.

You can bake anything in a toaster oven that you would normally bake in a full-sized one. You don't even need to change the time or temperature. You just need smaller pans. You will easily find cookie sheets and muffin pans available at WalMart and most grocery stores that have a "cooking notions" section. You will also find smaller rectangular pans, loaf pans, pie pans and the like in the disposable foil pans section. Happy baking!
