i am researching for my dissertation and my tutor mentioned this quote but i can't read the name of it as his hand writing is so bad! i think it says mend_ _ _ son, help!!
please if anyone has any idea who said this let me know!

I think the quote that you have mentioned is like this, "Architecture in general is frozen music" and it was by Friedrich von Schelling (1775-1854) from the book Philosophie der Kunst (1809).

Most likely he is refering to Erich Mendelsohn (21 March 1887 – 15 September 1953) who was a German Jewish architect, known for his expressionist buildings in the 1920s, the first in the style, as well as for developing a dynamic functionalism in his projects for department stores and cinemas.

However, the most famous quote is from the poet Goethe who said that "architecture is frozen music"
