Do you think Jesus asked Judas to betray him In order to set into motion the chain of events that led to the redemption of man. Remember that the taking of one's own life is a sin and giving himself up would have amounted to suicide making it a sin in the eyes of his father so in keeping with his faith he had to have someone else set the holy plan into motion.

Lets try another take, other interpretations, according to the gospel of Nazirenes/light chapter 76 verse 29-30 it is said this of Judas betrayal (although I believe this was removed from the bible),

"No, for He will do some mighty work to deliver Himself out of their hands, even as when they of the synagogue in Capernaum rose up against Him, and brought Him to the brow of the hiss that they might throw Him down headlong, and did He not pass safely through their midst? He will surely escape them now also, and proclaim Himself openly and set up the Kingdom whereof He spoke".

Judas is guilty of trying to force the kingdom to come upon this world, in the manner that the Pharisees had looked for. Although even Yeshua/Jesus said that the kingdom will not come in the manner that they look for, which was outwardly, but rather that it manifest inwardly (luke 17:20-21), and that his kingdom is not of this world. The truth is many Christians are guilty of this same thing.

Anyways, God had willed the death of Jesus (John 3:16) and the death of Judas (Acts 1:16), according to the bible. In acts, Peter said that it was by the laws of God. “this Man delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death” (Acts 2:23 NAS).

Jesus knew Judas would "betray" him because he asked him to. God planned this role for Judas millenia before he or Jesus came into the world. Besides, I really don't think Judas was too into the idea himself. Consider the following: Judas accepted a low price for selling out Jesus-- the price of a slave. If he were interested in money he'd have milked the Sanhedron (sp?) for all they were worth. In addition he tried to give the money back to help ease his hurting conscience, though the Pharisees refused, saying it was "blood money". He killed himself after the fact, saying he had "betrayed innocent blood" (which was true the way he saw it). If he really were a caniving, plotting, scheming, evil Messiah-slayer his conscience wouldn't have tormented him the way it did (if at all). In closing, I believe Judas in a high position in Heaven for paying the ultimate price for the good of 2000+ years worth of people, past, present and future.

Great question. As we really know so little about this part of both Christ and Judas lives, we can only guess. But, like you said, some one had to set things in motion. Accordingly to the recently 'released' Book of Judas, that's the premise...and even with Christ's blessings of his act, Judas' suicide is very easy to understand if he truly loved Christ...if that is truly the case, then let's hope God kept the door open for him.

It's another of those great questions we'll finally get the answer for when we get to heaven.

Is that kind of like assisted suicide; where someone would help you kill your self. In that case Jesus couldn't have ask Judas to help him kill him self, that's still suicide right? But even so, Jesus knew that he would betray him and by not acting he did, in a way, kill him self. Unless he didn't know? Then he wouldn't be killing him self and he would go to heaven. Then there is the little fact that Jesus was a Jew, and I maybe wrong but in the Jewish bible there is hell to go to. So maybe he could have killed him self.
Either way Christians say that he willing let him self die "for our sins"? Nice little twist to add on to your life's works after you get caught by the Romans. Now we are really questioning faith.

GOD Knew How Jesus Would Die, Not Jesus. Jesus Didnt Know when or How. He Just Knew It Was Gonna Happen. And Yes, Judas Is A Traitor.

no,because Jesus gives us choices, that determines our faith in Him so Jesus gave Judas the choice but being who He was He knew Judas would betray Him all things were set into motion before the beginning of the worldJesus had to die the second death of Adam so that we could come to Him through grace

Yes he was a traitor, and he felt so bad about what he did that he killed himself.

Matthew 27
3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."

5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." 7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. 8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."[a]

Well according to prophecy it was his destiny to do it so if he had no choice in the matter I don't see it as betrayal. Yes some will argue that he did have free will but if he choose not to do it then Jesus would just be another Jewish prophet. So he actually had an important part in it. I don't think he was a traitor.

Matthew 27:5 states that when Judas betrayed Jesus he went back to the intense priests and tried to grant back the 30 products of silver he won for betraying Jesus. whilst the priests refused to settle for it Judas whilst out and hanged himself. except he wrote this between the betrayal and his loss of life it grew to become into no longer written by skill of Judas Iscariot! for this reason it sheds no new easy on all people, Judas or Jesus.
