I am an atheist myself, but it follows logically that any religion that disapproves of homosexuality must view it as a choice.
If Christianity viewed homosexuality (or any other trait) as being biological in nature, there would be no reason to make it a sin, because there's nothing you could do about it.
Therefore, Christianity must view it as a choice.

They don't stop to think about this stuff. They claim it's a choice, yet seem to forget what it was like to go thru puberty (I have a sneaky suspicion that some of them aren't out of it yet). They forget their hormones played a huge role during their teen yrs in what they are attracted to and why. I wonder how many of them Chose to Love their own mothers? I mean, since they are claiming that man falling in love with another man is a choice, not genetic or hormonal.... they MUST have chosen all the people they were going to love. It couldn't have been anything else But their choice.
The only part of this that they can claim is a choice is the sexual act itself. But being a Homosexual does not mean the Sexual act ALONE. It means a man prefers intimate relationships with other men only.... or a woman prefers only women. To say ALL of it is a choice is dishonest, to say the least. Just a way for them to toss the whole thing aside without having to deal with the real point to the issue - they are people too and deserve to live as they want.
I do have to say, though... there seems to be a major issue with a lot of the Heterosexuals who sit around and think about what kind of sex Homosexuals are having. I don't even think about what kind of sex other Heterosexuals are having! Why would anyone care what 2 gay men or women are doing in the privacy of their own home? And do they really think that if they stop them from getting married, they won't have sex??????????????

Yes being gay is a choice. you can choose to be gay or choose not to be. I think mortgagegirl101 said it very well. Gay people say that it is genetic so that they don't have to take responsibility for what they do. God instituted marriage between man and woman only.

Oh! GAY people say it's not, well then they probably would, wouldn't they. There is no such thing as a gay gene. Human sexuality is something that is learned. To someone not inclined that way, no amount of exposure to gayness will turn them gay. It is a choice that a person makes that determines their sexual orientation. It is the choice of this (sick and disgusting) lifestyle that makes them gay. As much as it was your choice to post this question in this particular category. Rationalize it all you want, it is a choice. Homosexuality, according to the Scriptures is the product of a reprobate mind (Romans chapter 1)
If it isn't your choice, who do you blame it on???
What's next, it's not your choice to be a meth addict?
You've got the meth gene??? as if.

I don't have issues with people being gay. Whether its a choice or genetic. Whether its environment that teaches me or my blood.
You care for someone and the conflict comes from SOMEONE else telling you its not ok to feel the way you do. My god accepts me as I am otherwise he wouldn't have made me this way.

Yes I do think it is a choice. Yes animals in the wild may do it but they do all sorts of other nasty thing that you would never catch me doing. Nor anyone else who is sane I would wager. To say it is not a choice is to cop out and take no responsibility for your actions. It is a sin and God never meant for it to take place. It is said so many times in both old and new testaments so I think I can say with some certainty that it goes against God and what he intended as the true nature of man.

I don't know what it is.
Several behaviors, from left-handedness to obesity to alcoholism to pedophilia, are thought to have a genetic component. Some of these behaviors are deemed harmful, others are not.
Other genetic conditions, like deafness, are considered an undesirable disability by some and membership in a unique culture that should be preserved by others.
So whether it's genetic or not answers some questions but poses others.

I think that the leaning toward it is the result of different things, such as; environment, genetic disposition, and in some cases just an out right rebellion.
In cases where there is a genetic leaning it is possible to fight or overcome, but with God's help coupled w/a sincere desire to please him.

If being gay was genetic then all identical twins would both either be straight or gay. However in many cases one is gay and one not, proving that genetics has nothing to do with being gay. It's clearly a choice. And not a good one.
