I have been dating a guy for a month now. He calls me his girlfriend, when sober and when not and to his friends. But, when he drinks (which has been going on a lot because of school break), he is a lot more affectionate with me. Such as kissing, hugging, cuddling, etc. When he is sober we have never 'made out', only pecks, and hugs. I have talked to my gf I made that is his friend's wife. She says his true feelings come out when he drinks, that he is shy when not. So I guess my question is, do you think these drunk feelings are his true feelings? Should I talk to him about this, or wait and see what comes of it since it's only been a month?

NO! That is a common misconception. Drunk feelings, and drunk ideas come out when drunk.

Alot of times it is true that 'drunk minds speak sober thoughts'. BUT, I cant help but think about some of the stupid things that I have said and done while under the influence that I know were not things I would do if I were in my right state of mind. Alcohol can bring out penned up emotion, but can also alter your train of thought. I think it depends on how much the person has had to drink and the person themself. Some people drink to where they are in a belligerent state, but that doesn't mean that what they say or do is how they really feel.

Yes i would have to say, true feelings/thoughts come out when ppl are consumed with alcohol. (either good or bad feelings depends what mood the person drinking is feeling at the time) I would ask him, when he drinks ..why he is so affectionate but when he is sober..he barely shows you anything he's feeling.??Secondly ask why it is he needs to drink* and get drunk or feeling pretty good before he shows you any affection?? I wouldn't be wasting my time with someone like that..but it is a decision only you can make. GoodLuck~

I wouldn' t call lowered inhibitions "true feelings". I would say it is the opposite. Drinking to the point of being drunk is not a true picture of a personality. Drunks behave differently. Sounds like this guy may have a problem with alcohol. I would advise you to be cautious with this relationship.

What drinking does is lower your inhibitions. So all those things that keep him from expressing how he feels while he's sober are suppressed when he's drunk and he lets them out. Just keep in mind it also affects your thought processes and people will sometimes say or think things that aren't necessarily true while they're drunk.

Yeah people do weird things when there blasted. A lot can happen when someones drunk and they don't even know what there doing so he might not know he's doing this. I don't think being drunk brings out true feels but hides them more. When your drunk you find yourself doing things you wouldn't normally do so I don't think this is his true feelings for u but maybe he's just shy. Ask him about it to see what he remembers or feels for u. Talking makes life better

I am in your situation but five years down the road. I stuck around and even married the guy. He still can't approach me sober. You are on the path to major heart-ache because this carries on to all aspects of a relationship. My advice is run RUN RUN! You don't want to only get affection when he's drunk, or relationship talks, or sex in the future for that matter. RUN RUN RUN

Drinking puts down all your inhibitions....I am not too sure that a drunk tongue speaks the truth all the time and in all cases.
Maybe he feels more affectionate when under the influence. That's cool, but be sure to let him know that he does that and he is sending mixed signals. And we all know what mixed signals can do to your head. Whew...talk about a mind screw!

they are kind of
but also maybe feelings for lust for you
its a so and so
i think its a feeling of insecurity cause you only been together for a month and you guys dont show much of affection in public either, but at the same time, he just might be having the man in him coming out, like he wants to get laid.
so talk with him
and know what and how he feels
and if you guys feel the same, date for some while, and see where it takes you from there

It is to some degree because drinking tends to remove inhibitions, and effects judgement. Maybe he has a problem with showing affection in public, or maybe he thinks you have a problem with public displays of affection. I would ask him about it versus your girlfriends, etc. The key to any good relationship is communication. My wife and I have been married for almost five years, and have a very good relationship all because we talk about anything, and everything. We don't drink though, we don't need to.
