This New Year's eve my father in law was drunk and bragged to me about all the affairs he has had in his life. He also mentioned that he currently is involved with another woman and gave me details on how he gets away with it. He told me not to tell anybody about this. Should I tell my wife who will definitely turn around and tell her mom or should I keep quiet and mind my own business?

Here are four options:

First Option:
Speak to your father in law alone "man to man". Call a bluff and tell him you are aware of the affair he's currently having. If he reacts.... then you'll know if it's true. Give him an ultimatum.. Tell him he needs to confess or else! Be prepared to follow through with the "or else" part. Which may include but is not limited to 1) telling your wife, or 2) telling your mother in law.

Second option:
You need to be sure he wasn't just trippin out because he was drunk, so you need to be sure what he said was a fact. Conduct your own investigatation.... find proof by utilizing the information he gave you or follow him one day.

Third option:
Speak to him directly and fish around to find out if he remembers your conversation. Try not to give away too much of what you know. If he does not remember you can make a decision on what to do at that point. If he does... maybe send an annoymous note to him or his wife.

Fourth option:

You can simply mind your own business and let the chips fall where they may.

ok then... there you go!

It's a pretty hard one but do you really think the wife doesn't suspect something is going on so you should just keep quit because if you say something the relationship between you and your father in law will change and most likely if you would tell then you will be the bad guy

I agree with "mom". Wait until you can get him alone and ask him about what he said. Let him tell you his side, sober. I don't approve of cheating, regardless of the reason, but there may be circumstances to the situation. I was cheated on numerous times by ex and have heard every lie in the book. Use your best judgement. Only you know how your wife will react to the news.

Do y ou approve of it? If you don't, as a REAL man you should let him know that you do not approve of what he is doing, and that further more, you do not appreciate him placing you in his web of deceit by sharing the details. Tell him that for future references, he should keep his infidelities to himself! Ask him would he like if he found out that you were cheating on his daughter? Dont tell your wife cause she will tell her mother then her parents will fight, make up, and you will be the odd man out!

Try to talk to him again. this time make sure he is not drunk. Tell him how much his behavior bewildered you. Tell him exactly your opinion. You seem a honest man , stickied to family tradition. Make him take the responsibility of telling the truth. Don't cover him. You will feel miserable. Don't tell to anyone else before talking to him first. Good luck ! Hope to find the best way.

First I would confront him when he is sober.Tell him what he told you and see what he has to say.He will probably deny it, so if you can, keep some ammo back, so when the time is right you can fire it straight at him.If that does no good then I think you should tell your wife, you have done every thing you can.

Once he sobers up, repeat to him what he told you, and see what his reaction is. Does he try to cover it up, say he was just making it up? Do you believe his story, or was he just talking big? Does he confirm it? Use your best judgement from there. Morally, you are not required to keep a secret that causes harm to another person - he could be acquiring STDs from his girlfriends and spreading them to his wife.

I would suggest telling your wife what happened, and leaving it up to her discretion. They are her parents, and she may have some insight on how best to handle it.

cheating on a woman or even a man is wrong. you should tell your wife or even your mother in law. if someone is being cheated on they have the right to know. if you decide to tell her she can make up her mind on if she will give him another chance or not. ask youre wife and/or mother in law if they know about him cheating in the past. if youre worried that he will be angry with you ask to keep it confidential. good luck!!!

Man, I would keep that to yourself. If you tell your wife, then you and her will be caught in the middle of all that drama. His infidelities will eventually catch up to him......they always do. Stay far away from that problem if you can. Best of luck to you.
