No pain no gain,..find a calorie free substitute,..when ever you need to smoke stick a piece of candy,..gum or even your thumb,..(it may be unsightly), but you save yourself the nicotine

Oh I know the feeling I felt like someone was taking me by the head a literally screwing me into the ground, my cravings got worse as time went by but then one day I woke up and it was over, I still get cravings once in awhile, what got me threw it was wanting to do what was right, I went cold turkey as have millions that have quit smoking so you are in a great crowd with a double meaning for your endeavor will place you among those spoken of at Rev 7:9. One thing that helped me was I never thought I could quit and everyday I made it without smoking as I climbed into bed at night I was a happy camper and I thanked Jehovah for helping me make it threw each day. The times when it was really bad and I wanted to smoke all I could think of was if I did that meant Jehovah wasn't helping and I could not bear that! I smoked 3 packs a day and being a none smoker now is a blessing! In two more weeks you will hit the three month mark you will be surprised at the way you feel then the dread will turn to joy because you will be a non smoker and be able to look others in the eye when they say they can't do it and say oh yes you can because you DID IT! I would like to congratulate you on your not smoking I know Jehovah is and so are all your brothers and sisters. Agape

It is the nicotine calling you. I forget how many days it takes to get over the physical withdrawl. I think it was 3 days. Please try to resist. I went cold turkey several years ago when you still had to have a prescription to get the patch. I had dizzy spells, felt literally ill, sick to stomach, got a sinus infection. The doctor told me that when you smoke the chemicals in the cigarette actually can mask certain symptoms that flow free when you quit. Try getting some gum or patch to relieve symptoms. You'd take an aspirin if you had a headache right? I tried to suck lemon drops, take in deep deep relaxing breaths, and talked to someone who was in my shoes but was successful. Come back and let us know how you do. DO IT!!!!!!! You are strong. If you go back now you will only have to relive this whole 2 days all over again when you try again.

I would see your doctor. Withdrawal from nicotine result in a small hunger feeling in your stomach which lasts about 5 days and nothing else. Smoking addiction is 99.9% mental and 0.01% physical. I'm not saying your nuts, smoking addiction is a complex brain washing experience which has many sources, friends, family ,television, ourselves and even the medical profession who claim its difficult to give up smoking. THAT'S RUBBISH! Read Allen Carr 'The Only Way to Give Up Smoking Permanently' I did, and my mother who smoked 30 a day for 30 years. It was so easy and there ware NO withdrawal symptoms other than the one mentioned above. Trust me its all true. Good luck

Hi Nicky,Im on my 8th week of not smoking now.

You are doing really well,I dont think what your feeling happened to me ,maybe you have just got a bug and its nothing to do with giving up.if so it should be gone tomorrow or the day after.

After tomorrow the nicotine will have all left your body, and the carbon monoxide,it only takes 3 days, the craving will go less and less each day that passes after that.

Im at the point where i hardly ever think about ciggies now,

Good luck and keep it up hun ,your already a non smoker.

If you are on the patches then stop them, try a lower dose, if your not then get some, it's not easy giving up, but i am proof that anyone can, i gave up on the1/11/05 and i haven't so much as sniffed at a cigarette, don't go back, to go 2 days you are doin really well,.. it will get easier i promise, but don't just try and go cold turkey it wont help!! Get a nicotine supplement until you have got over the hand to mouth movements at least... I M me for any other advice i will be more than happy to share my experiences of giving up with you!!!!

Well done keep it up you won't regret it!!!

it's normal
after a week your going to get flu like symptoms also
your nose will be ever so sore as it will run alot and of course you'll be blowing it
in the first month your gonna feel like death warmed up
but remember thats the rubbish you have been smoking comming out of your body

i gave up in august last year and it was hell at first.
but the down fall of most smokers is the hell you go through while the rubish is comming out of the systerm not many can cope and light up again

i think i've cracked it lol but time will tell about me not lighting up again

good luck

yeah it's normal i'm afraid, especially if you were a heavy smoker... it'll only last abo8ut 4 days though, so keep at it.
after the 4 days, all the nicotine's left your system, but you still think you need a ciggie, but don't let it get you. i felt really fine after about 6 weeks, but it gets gradually easier all the time so don't panic.

one thing though, i fell into the trap of planning on the 6 week target (someone else had told me), and when it was up i thought "i'm cured". so had a f@g (can't believe they censor that...!) to celebrate..... don't do that!

really really good luck!

Well done!! it will pass in the next few days, its all the toxins and chemicals that your body is suffocating from. Its is so hard to quit, but so worth it, you will feel released from having to obey a craving that will contribute to an early death. You are a winner already!!! Good Luck.

It does pass, these withdrawal symptoms usually ease of after 3-5 days. I would avoid nicotine substitutes having done 2 days without, and just get it over and done with.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, to help flush those nasty toxins out.

Congratulations on coming this far, I hope you are succesful you non-smoker you!

Withdrawal from smoking can take any form, any excuse to make you start again. It's an insidious thing, it affects us all in some way.

Try to get past the third day and you're nearly there1

Keep away from temptation. I'm currently on my third day as well.

email me if you think I could help.
