I have a TV that the remote wont switch it on. I have tried a few universal remotes and they don't work either. Don't know if it is the TV or the remote therefore.

Is it possible to test a TV remote.

Can a TV that just operates via a remote be used without a remote. Can the controlls be over ridden.

Any help would be appreciated.

The fact that you cannot even use a universal would lead me to believe it to be the TV and not the remote. You should check with the manufacturer to see if it is suppose to be remotely activated, it is possible it is not. If your remote should turn it on then your TV may need servicing or replacement, if it is new the warranty should still apply. If your remote operates other functions on the TV but not the on/off then the remote is good and the TV has the problem. No further tests need be made.

This is a tricky question to me,

You mustn't believe best on the universal remotes because...
1: Are you sure that their signals tell your TV what to do?
2: If there is an advertisement about it, it might be a trick.
3: They might be fake or broken on the way to your house.
Try to...
1: Use the normal remote right in front of the TV.
2: Check the batteries you put if they are full.
3: Find out how much volts the remote require to function.
4: Find a friend or anyone who knows how to test a TV
and remote.

TV remotes also take batteries. Try replacing the battery. If that's not the problem, then try reprogramming your remote to the tv you are using it with. Look in the manual that came with your remote, look up the brand of tv you're using, then look for the instructions to program that code into your remote. It should work after you do that.

#1 Try new batteries.
#2 Look at the TV manual under trouble shooting. There was a code I needed to set up before the remote would work.
#3 Hope you get the "answer" on Yahoo.
