My 8 year old stepson has a birthday coming up in February and my husband and I want to surprise him with something really cool for his birthday. We only see him every other weekend, so we aren't real sure what he would like. He is hard to plan and buy for. We have 4 other children who want to be in on the surprise as well as the rest of the family. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah! Go-Karting is awesome! As well as Lazer tag. Maybe take him to a movie or rollerskating or BOWLING or something along those lines. Make sure there's either cake & ice cream or plenty of candy.

My brother's 9 and he loves go-karting (and so do I!)
Or in town I saw this build-a-bear workshop where you choose the outside of the bear, then you stuff it, and you kiss its heart, then you stitch it up and give it a birth certificate. My brother also loved that!

depends on where you live, here in NJ they
have something called Lazer tag & the kids LOVE it .
other than that how about movie, ice skating, roller skating

how about a harry potter theme and get a magician. Everyone can wear wizard hats and carry magic wands....!
