A ripe mango should have a red/orange/yellow blush with very little green color. It should give slightly when squeezed the same way a ripe avocado does. Sometimes, it will smell sweet.

Avoid mangoes with bruises or ones that are very hard and green.

Find a mango with good color. Not too firm and not too squishy, much like other fruits

go for the ones that have some color to them and are firm. The ones that are kinda squishy are really messy to eat.
