Actually, it wont take that long to clear up- Ive got some excellent home remedies that are cheap, readily available and natural. For years i have witnessed the effectiveness of tea tree oil- it is 100% natural and is anti-fungal, killing all the fungal spores very well. My friend had a fungal problem and the cremes didnt do anything--so she tried tea tree oil and it worked very well-it went away completely. If you buy tea tree oil it will be worth your money (its not expensive) as it does other things too, its excellent to have as a home remedy thing---it can clear pimples very well too as it is also anti-bacterial--killing all the bacterial spores on your skin-killing the pimple. You can even search it on google and it will tell u the same thing. i use tea tree oil for pimples, insect bites/sunburn and it works soooo well. Im very sure this will completely clear away the fungus. If u dnt want 2 get it u can try crushed garlic to put in your socks when u sleep as garlic has a powerful anti-fungal agent in it too-although it may cause blistering. (refer to UrL below if you wish to know more about these anti-fungal things) You can also try seasame oil--its also a powerful anti fungal agent and works well on skin-its sensitive. i hope this helps! :)

Unfortunately, you need to get a prescription from your doctor. It simply won't clear up on its own. You need to take the pills for several months and, even then, it will take a few more months before you notice improvement.

To prevent it from spreading, use rubbing alcohol to clean your toenail clippers after cutting that toe. I buy alcohol wipes from the pharmacy. Change your socks every day. Alternate shoes so they can dry out completely in between wearings. Don't wear shoes around the house.

Very difficult to treat. Lamisil, the prescription pills, are very toxic to your liver.

There are some reports of people who have had success by rubbing Vick's Vaporub into their toes twice a day. Use a toothbrush to get it all the way up under your toenails. This must be done for up to a year to be effective.

i don't know of any home remedies, but Lamisil (pill - only available through your doctor) is the best for getting rid of it. The cream works o.k. but not nearly as well as the pill.
