I think he was checking you out and was trying to be all sly about it. He looked away because he got caught and he knows it.

He liked what he saw and when you caught him looking he got embarrassed. He is probably kind of shy too. If you like him you should say hi next time you see him. He may still be looking down but say hi anyway. Try to get him to make eye contact. Then you can start talking to him. The ice will be broken.

It means he thinks you are hot and was checking you out but was caught and so quickly looks away or down to try and pretend that he wasn't staring at you. If you want to get things going quick. Walk up to him and say, "Go ahead, keep looking if I can return the favor."

Usually it means he was checking you out but didn't want you to notice.Especially If he is with someone else. The gut reaction for most is a little embarrassment but for me I keep on looking because I want her to notice me too.

That could mean alot of things it could mean that it is somehing that he wants to say bu don't know how to say it. He could also be doing that because of love or just for you to ask what was wrong with him. But don't actually jump to conclusions until you ask him and if he beats around the bush you need to see whassup.
