I had a lab/pitt mix when I was 9 till he died when I was 12. He was the biggest puppy in the world!! People would often be scared of him because of his size (on his hind legs he was as tall as my 5'11" father) and his loud bark but he never hurt a fly. However, he was also the runt of his litter. It really just depends on how you raise it as a puppy. If you teach it to be playful, it will act like a puppy all the time, even when it gets to be a lot bigger and you wouldn't want it to jump on a small child trying to play. If you ignore it, it could grow to be mean and could even turn it's back on you. Just teach the pup like you would a child: yes and no, right and wrong, and when it acts up, a pat on the nose is all it needs.

It depends on the dog and how it has been treated so far in it's life. I currently have a Dalmatian / Pit Bull mix and she is a GREAT dog. She loves everybody and just loves to give kisses. She is a great watch dog and lets me know when anything needs my attention. She is great with kids. She was found starving, on the verge of death with 9 puppies by her side. Because of that she has a very small food aggression problem that we are still working on but she is 90% better than she was.

A lab / Pit mix may be a slightly more aggressive dog than the average dog. Pit Bulls are naturally more aggressive and somewhat more protective of their "people" than say a Golden Retriever for instance.

If the dog tends to be more of the aggressive type than I would definitely recommend that you think carefully about getting it if you have any reservations about the Pit Bull in it go with something that you feel will be more suitable for you.

In my experience, very energetic, extremely friendly and boisterous. Probably fairly destructive while it's young too. There is no way of saying for sure though, it depends on the parents. My first dog's best friend was a lab/pit. She was a coonhound. They adored each other, so hopefully it should be good with other dogs.

You cannot determine a dog's temperament based on it's breed. Every dog is an individual. I've met sweetheart pit bulls and complete jerk labs that I wouldn't turn my back to.

Dogs are a lot like people. Puppies have a certain amount of personality "hard-wired" in when they are born. Just like there are mellow babies and fussy babies. But just like people, the majority of dogs personalities is learned behavior. There are very few animals that are naturally mean. If this dog is older, the rescue/pound will probably tested it for aggression, including dog, food and territory aggression. If it is a pup and you like it's personality, treat it and train it well and it will be a good dog.

As with any dog, you can "cookie cutter" the temperment. You will most likely get a very bright, high energy dog that is very trainable and needs to keep busy. Make certain that you socialize you dog with all sizes and shapes of people, lots of situations and also with other dogs. Keep in mind all dogs do NOT love all other dogs, so keep dogs and people safe with interacting with new dogs. Having both Labs & Pitties they can both be wonderful breeds... they are all different, as we are!

Since a lab bull (just made that name up) is a mixed breed, the dog could take on from either of its parents, or may have a totally different personallity. It's not easy to say.

No one can tell for sure the exact temperment of any dog. You just have to socialize it and work alot with training. Despite what people say about pitbulls~ all the ones I have ever encountered have been extremely sweet and loyal dogs. I would also just say I bet it will be FULL of energy.
