My church is revamping our SS classrooms. One room is to be a theatre like room for the kids to act. In the room, we have a stage already built up against one wall. I would like it to look like the inside of a theatre maybe with christian based movie posters on the walls. All painting will be from floor to ceiling which includes all doors. Any ideas?

Well, in a theatre you would need to have curtains on both sides (floor to ceiling) that can be opened so you could have them always open and painted that way (usually red). Also, what about lighting? Can you paint some theatre style lighting to hang above everything? You could paint a poster of "Tales on Narnia" or some other more Christian based movie/story. Maybe you could also paint a Directors and Producers chair? They are usually high "stool" type chairs with the titles printed on the backs. The doors could have "Quiet on the set" painted on them or some other theatre related phrasing. One could eevn say "Green Room" which is where the actors go after or between scenes.

Good luck. It's a very cute idea.

We did this too, and added velvet curtains, as well as movie posters. Also, talk to your local movie theater chain (AMC, Lowes, etc.) and ask if they have any memorabilia to donate. We also hung old empty film canisters and reels on the walls (also from AMC) for a really cool effect. Also, buy some little clapboards from school supply stores or online (ustoy.com). They also make little lamps that look like movie cameras! Lots of possibilities for a creative and inspirational environment!

The old theaters had balconies on the sides.......anyone in your church an artist and could paint in perspective? You could have the balcony with people's heads visible and then at floor level seats with people sitting in them watching the stage. Phew! That's involved.

Maybe just painting faux drapes part way back and then the posters. You may have to recreate the posters in paintings as they are hard to find. Or use Bible scenes........

Movie theaters are painted dark to eliminate reflected light. The same with stage theaters where there are foot lights and spot lights. If you are not using lights or showing films, then it should be painted in light colors. A very light green is a good idea. Green is a tranquil color.
