I have a 3 month old kitten. She went with me when I went to visit my family for new years. My mother in law?has a 9 month old male kitten, that is half mountain cat that doesn't really look like a kittten. My kitten is very small and playful. She's shy when she first meets new animals, cats especially, she usually hisses and arches her back. I wanted her to warm up to the male cat, so I put her in a room with him and all of her toys and shut the door. It wasn't until a couple days later when i was petting her and she walked away that I noticed her private was so red and irritated I couldn't tell which was her behind and which was her private. I looked closer to her private and it looks like her opening was penetrated by the male cat, her opening was still open, but today it's closed so it must have happened recently. Is there any other explaination for this? What do i do? Can she get pregnant?

When my cat had kittens we kept 2-male kittens. When they were 4 months old they tried to mount each other, also there mother. Now this is all normal behavior. Needless to say the two boys were fixed the next month.Just a speculation but if the cat that messed with your kitten is half (wild cat breed) it may have stronger instinct to breed. Now of course your kitten shouldn't be pregnant. But watch for any problems when she urinates in case of bacteria or irritation. Good Luck and check with a vet if you notice any trouble with her.

I also would recommend the Feliway. I have heard a lot of good things about it and it is harmless. Another thing you could try is to introduce just the scent of the new kitten by rubbing the kitten with a cloth (an old shirt or something) and placing the cloth near or under the adult cats nose along with something pleasant, like cat treats or canned cat food. And do likewise for the kitten. But always pair it with something pleasant, that way they each think of each other as something pleasant. And it takes out the actual face to face encounter, which cats hate. Plus it may give you an indication of how the adult cat will act when you bring the kitten home. If the adult's hair on his back or tail puffs up, get ready for trouble! My boyfriend and I have three cats, we pretty much just put them together, but I would not recommend this method! The youngest cat would not use the litterbox at first because the older ones were bullying her out of it. We had to police the litterbox for a while, but they get along great now. If they wrestled too intensely we would shake a metal box filled with coins and that would take all the fight out of them, lol. I also recommend that you have at least two litterboxes, preferably three just so that the older cat does not try to keep the kitten from using the litterbox or so that the kitten does not feel he is encroaching on the older cats territory by using the litterbox.

Possible, I suppose, but it seems unlikely.

Kitty is too young to be in heat, so she wouldn't be giving off the scent that would stimulate a mating response in the older cat.

However, cats sometimes use mounting as a dominance move, so it's plausible that the older cat mounted kitty as a display of social dominance.

Putting kitty in a room unsupervised with an adolescent tomcat wasn't a very wise move. At nine months the boy is still more kitten than adult, but he's well into adolescence and probably old enough, or nearly old enough, for his mating instincts to begin to develop. Did you know that one of a tomcat's most powerful mating instincts is to kill kittens that aren't his own?! (That's because getting rid of the kittens means that the momcat will come into heat sooner and be available for mating with him.)

I don't think your kitten could get pregnant. She's not in estrus, and only "cats" can go into estrus. And who's Sadie? And Kaylette, why would you say "I love you" to a stranger? This is what I know about cats or kittens so far, and I would have to agree with the girl who said "grandma" instead of mother in law.

I'm not sure about if the male cat would feel that strong instinct on a 3 month old kitten, but she won't get pregnant don't worry. She's too young and isn't sexually mature yet.

She's a kitten, how could she be raped? That's silly. I think you are silly for bringing the kitten to your grandma's house and expect it to play with a male cat. If you were so concerned why did you bring her to the house with a male kitten? Plus, kittens don't have sex!! They are just kittens, not CATS! Get that straight!. Plus, if you don't want this happening anymore, go spay her and tell your grandma to nuter her cat too! My gosh you must be really stupid to think such a thing as rape between cats!! Interestin

It's not likely. A chance of a three month old kitten getting pregnant I would say is extremely rare. The kitten would have to be maturing faster than normal.

Animals breed by instinct and typically only when the female is "ready"...they don't give consent in the same way humans do, some don't give it at all but are just taken by the most dominant (or only available) male. There is no "rape" in the animal world...not as we know it.

Wow. Clearly she didn't actually mean rape, since the word is in quotation marks. And, it's her mother in law...not her grandmother.

Clearly, she is only concerned about her cat getting pregnant. As far as her being..uh.."silly", she wasn't intentionally bringing her kitten to the house just to have it have sex with the male cat. She wanted Sadie to make friends.

By the way, Bri...maybe you shouldn't have locked Sadie in the room? lol jk love you

A cat can have its own babies as young as 5 months old. I dont think you have to worry about your kitty having her own kittens. She should be fine. But if she starts acting funny or you notice she hasnt gotten better, please take her to the vet right away.
