My roommate (and good friend) who has always been an affectionate, caring, compassionate, intelligent person, has recently been exhibiting some very strange behavior. She has been spending more and more time with a guy who is controlling, and who won't come around any of her friends. She says that it's because he's afraid we won't like him. Now she has made the rather impulsive decision to move away from her friends and close to him, and her behavior continues to get stranger. She won't spend time with anyone but him, she's cold and shut off emotionally when we try to tell her that we are concerned, and she's cutting ties with everyone she's close to. I recently discovered (without her knowledge) that she is taking Prozac. I know for a fact that she wasn't taking it a month ago. My question is, is it likely that these new behaviors are due to the drugs?

Yes , It most surely will .The less she takes it the worse it gets. The drugs controls the behavior when taken properly

It might affect her in that way slightly, but I don't think Prozac alone could make her change her ways and make those impulsive decisions. It must be something else as well, though Prozac could be a small contributing factor.

It's not the Prozac. Something more is going on with the controlling boyfriend she is with. She may also not be taking the medication every day as prescribed.

There are time that people do react adversely to a SSRI, usually not to prozac though. It could be she just obessed with the guy and he's being controlling. You could look it up at drugdigest.com
