If so, then are these Christians listening to spirits instead of God?

I am a Christian and speak only to God, I am trying to understand peoples opinions so I can lead them onto the right path and to not be judgemental or judged.

To Leslie S, yes I have been asked to lead people on the right path as part of my job working with young people at my church. The debate is that Mediums cannot be Christian, this I feel is not up to us Christians to decide as Christianity should be for anyone.

I don't think so. Christians are supposed to believe in God. No one knows what will happen 5 minutes from now. If you believe that you can tell what happens in the future, then you are listening to fake spirits instead the True God.

No, certainly not. Consulting spirits is forbidden. Why? Because it is only evil or deceiving spirits that you will contact. The dead cannot have any contact with this world. They are either with Christ in His keeping or awaiting judgement. Would God really allow them to float around ? Why then don't those awaiting judgement come back to warn us ?

What does Christ say using Abraham as a figure ? -They have Moses and the Prophets, let them hear them.
-...Nay father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
-And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead., - from Luke 16/19-31

Well now Christ has risen from the dead and still most won't believe. Could you have any more proof ?

Check out Leviticus 19/31, 20/6, 20/27, Deuteronomy 18/9-14, 2 Kings 21/6, 23/24, 1 Chronicles 10/13, 2 Chronicles 33/6 and Isaiah 8/19-20 to start with.

Whether Christians are listening to spirits who can say, but we are commanded to test and try the spirits whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world as you can see even on Yahoo Answers, 1 John 3/1-3.

Paul also warns of some departing the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of devils speaking lies in hypocrisy and having their consciences seared... 1 Timothy 4/1-3.

Further to your addition.

How can you lead others when you don't know yourself ? ? ? ! ! ! Might as well ask a blind man to show you the way. What hope is there ? Is this what they call blind faith ?

Yes. I listen and talk to God every chance i get. But i also listen to dead friends and family only. I don't like to be called a Medium but if people want to call me that? It does not bother me. I look at it as a gift i have. And i never charge. People should not make money off of God or the gifts they were born with.
Take care and have a nice day.

No. I've had this argument with a christian priest. His view was that the souls of the departed either go to heaven or hell and therefore aren't available to be contacted.
I'm not defending the argument, just saying what he said.

Of course Christians can be mediums - wasn't Jesus? There is even a Christian Spiritualist organisation.

Don't see why being a medium is at odds with Christianity in any way.

no it is not acceptable to God for someone to be a medium.. have a bible? read it!
EDIT> Have you not read what the bible says about this? You are making your own rules and doing as you want. To be a christian, you have to obey the Lord.

Have people asked you to lead them on the right path? or are you another self righteous person (regardless of religion) that believes that they know better than everyone else?
