It hurt for me like a week and i kept taking advil, but aftr that it didn't really hurt. For me the spacers before hurt a lot. It will go away soon but when you go back to get your wires changed its probably going to hurt then again too. Just take advil now and before you go back so it doesn't hurt as bad.

It will last from a week to like a week and a half at least thats what happened with me (got them on last may). They will hurt a lot sometimes but once u get used to them its ok. Take some pain medication if you really need to.
Some tips though
Brush a lot - Tartar builds up a lot easier with braces and by having a lot between ur teeth u will have to wear braces longer because treatment will take longer.
Floss a lot 2 - (same reason)
You can chew gum make sure they don't get in the way of ur rubberbands.
Beware of some foods - some foods like apples require biting into which will rip ur wire out of your mouth.
And the last thing i can think of
Check ur teeth after lunch at school - Don't wanna lose points with the opposite sex because you got shiz nack in ur mouth.

No, it won't last too long. I had braces when i was 14-15. It hurts on the first day. But you will need to see your doctor periodically, so everytime it will hurt a little on the first day. I think you can ask your doctor about some painkillers. Or you can tell him to reduce the stress, but then the total time of wearing braces will be longer.
Finally you will look so nice, so it will all be worth it!

I don't have braces, but i have had a few close friends get them.... they tend to hurt for just a little while, and when cleaning them after anything you eat... soon enough it will stop hurting, and you'll get use to the filling.... i wish you the best, and maybe the pain will pay off in the end when you have a killer smile!!!

it is normal to hurt right after you get your braces, take some Tylenol and goes easy on the chewing until it gets better, don't worry this doesn't last too long

It can take about a week. The pain will eventually stop. Eat watery stuff so you dont have to put pressure on your teeth.

whats fun is trying to chew solid food right after. the feeling of "look at me, i can take the pain" overcomes the pain you feel. if you can overcome that pain, your pain the following days will only pale in comparision
