My family made it's money by the slave trade, we bought Africains from thier African and Arab 'masters', in Africa, shipped them over to the Carribean and Americas and sold them for a huge profit.
Today our family is very mixed comprising of all racial groups, we all benfit from the family wealth.
Do you think the white, members of my family should give their share to the Africain Americans, and black Carribean descendents of the slaves we sold

Let me clarify this a little.
1.Our family fortune combined runs into billions of dollars.
2. All of my large extended family are extreemly wealthy. Black, White, Asian , and few of non definable ethnic origin. Everbody, there are no poor people (we know of) in our family.
3. The slaves we bought were from black Africains.

Send the money to me. Slavery is over. Slave trading was a legal business at that time. So the money was made legally.

In addition to the Atlantic Slave Trade, there was a slave trade that sent Northern and Eastern Africans across Eastern Europe and South Asia, usually called the Arab slave trade. This trade route is about 700 years older than the Atlantic trade. There's a lot of information available on this trade. The MtDNA test only tests a very small percentage of our ancestors. It's possible that this line was never enslaved in the Americas and that your American slave ancestors are a different line. They (back to the halpogroup line) may even be a part of your European descent if that can be traced into Eastern or Mediterranean Europe. They could have been traded by West Africans or Arabs to Europeans and brought to America. Unfortunately, the time line gap between the DNA test and records is still pretty big, so it's really hard to make a generalization. There are a number of Halpogroups associated with north and east Africa. Some are more and less associated with certain ethnic groups. You can Google Halpogroup ___ ethnic group and get a few results that will give charts or lists. Afro-asiatic languages include 5 or 6 very large groups that span all of North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula. I wouldn't want to take a stab at guessing ethnic group.

The people of today are not guilty of things their ancestors did. But all of us who are reasonably well off are guilty if we do nothing about the poverty existing in the world today. We all have a responsibility to do what we can; and understanding how Britain's wealth today is partly based on the enslavement and impoverishment of Africans, and on Empire generally, can help us see that our responsibility is not just to do charity, but to undo some of the damage done in the past.

This is one of the reasons that I personally am in favour of people having the right to improve their lives my migrating, even though I would certainly prefer that people had more opportunities in their own countries.

Did you know that remittances sent home by migrant workers are more than all government and charitable aid to the Third World?

Why should todya pay for yesteryear?
IF you want to HONOR the good work of folks that slaved there is a way to do so. You'll know.

This is germain on many levels. What we do today with illegal organisms, will have a lot to do with who honors who ..in the future.
I rather hope my forebearers will be honoring those who sent the illegals packing.

Assuming what you are saying is true, I must say you are one of the most honest people on earth. How many people would even think of sharing their wealth, earned several generations back ? Anyways, I do not think you could identify the descendents of your slaves. Even if you do, I doubt they would accept your wealth. You may want to consider charity, instead.

If you feel strongly about it, why not set up some kind of educational facility to teach people about the slave trade? Or, better yet, use the funds to somehow help efforts to free people who are being enslaved TODAY in some African/Islamis countrues!

Merge with my family ,make it a bigger enterprise! Sharing will not solve anything ,but may give them ammo(resources) to harm your immediate family, and there is no profit in that!!
