Well sweetie, what's done is done, I really don't think you can take it back now. You are a better person than I. As payment ask your neighbor to cat sit for you when you're away (only joking). I would suggest to your neighbor to put a fence up if she doesn't have one already. Honestly if I think she was that concerned with her garden she would have a lot of equipment to ward of neighborhood pests (rodents, rabbits, etc.) So I think she took advantage of you a bit. Keep a close eye on your cats, train them to stay out of her yard so you don't have any more problems in the future. If for some reason the alarm systems stop working and she tries to get you to replace them, stand up to her, but she's a lawyer so watch out. Let her know you've trained your cats to stay out of her yard, so she needs to talk to the other cat owners in the neighborhood. Also inform her that you covered two alarm systems already and it is her garden. Suggest a fence or give her the business card of the company you used and let her use the work.
Like I said, what's done is done, and you were a great person for buying her the system and a VERY good pet owner for helping her, BUT I wouldn't let her do it again to you.

You should not have bought her any alarm. I'm not a cat person, and I get upset when cats use my garden for a litterbox, but I would never expect any of the cat owners to buy me a cat alarm. I use a humane trap and turn the cats over to animal control---after paying the bail-out fees once or twice, "loving" cat owners keep their cats in the house or tethered.
Keep your kitties in the house, and show her that you do so, and then she'll lay off. We have a leash law where I'm at, whether its a pet cat, dog, lizard or bird, if it's outside, it has to be on a leash.

I can relate to this, my old neighbors had 4 cats and they would climb our trees, lay on our patio, and antagonize my cat but walking next to my sliding glass doors, one going to the patio and another in our kitchen, I wanted so bad to tell my neighbors to keep their cats in their own yard, I do, I don't let my cat outside unless I'm with her. I didn't know you could get an alarm like that, wish I had known cause now we have new neighbors and they don't have any cats. I think its your responsiblity to a point, the second alarm you should not have bought, the both of you could have gone to other neighbors and gotten the money to go out and buy one, 5 dollars for each neighbor for example. The first alarm you could have done it that way too. There are no laws that say leash your cat so don't be intimitated by her being a lawyer.

Tell the ***** to build a green house. There a plenty of other ways to deal with garden pest that are less expensive than an ultrasonic alarm. You did your part to correct the problem that may have been cause by your pets, this lady sounds like she's just trying to take advantage of you generosity.

Ya I think she is taking advantage of you...it was a nice thing for you to do getting the first one, but to buy her a second one, especially its not just your cats getting into her garden, is just rediculous!! I know you want to keep the peace, but I would tell her to kiss your ***! You did enough for her and if she wanted to take you to court, the case would be thrown out I am sure! Good luck, neighbors suck!

It is not your responsibility, cats are cats and they go places. I wouldn't have even got her the first, I think she's pushing her luck asking for another. It is her garden so her responsibility to keep pests away. Do you put nets over your ponds to keep out birds or do you expect the council to do it?

cats are free roaming. Does she have documentation to prove it was your cat. Has she shown you damage cat has done WITH PROOF. She is pushing her legal knows to the limit but don't let her scare you off. Has she made other owners get these devices too? I would seek legal advice to see just what your rights are. She could be over stepping her bounds.

Well...as a cat owner myself...you're lucky she's being somewhat understanding!
I have owned my cat for 9 years....and as my PET, she never goes outside our home..
I wouldn't let my dog wander the neighborhood like a stray...so why do people let their cats???
Owner responsibility would take care of this situation!
To all you who think the owner is not responsible...I hope your cats don't get into my yard....BIG dog hates all cats except the one he lives with!!!
Cat other than our's = TARGET!!!

I think you have been more than fair and a really good neighbour. It is entirely reasonable for your neighbour to get her own alarm, after all it is she who has the problem.
