Always wear a seat belt.
I have had classmates in high school who died from not wearing a seat belt.
My brother was killed in a car accident even though he was wearing a seat belt.
The stats are clear though, wearing seat belts save lives! And i mean really are they not cool or something.

My father got into a car accident with a drunk driver a few years ago. The police said that if he hadn't been wearing a seat belt, he would have died.
A close personal friend wasn't wearing a seat belt when she had a head on collision with a SUV. She was driving a Ford Focus. She died instantaneously.
I've been taught from a young age that the seat belt goes on the moment I get into the car. It's no joking matter when in 2001, 60% of the 31,910 vehicle occupants killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt.
I don't turn on the ignition until everyone in my car is wearing a seat belt I really don't know why people don't wear them. Is it because they're "not cool"? What an incredibly stupid perception. How is it uncool not to protect your own life?
I applaud you for caring about your friend's safety and telling them to wear seat belts. I hope your friends realise what a good friend you are.

I have two people in my family killed 20 years apart from not wearing a seatbelt. They were both adults, both were in the back seat and both were ejected. Both of them would be alive to day if they had been wearing seatbelts. I work handling accidents now and this week two students were killd because they were not wearing seatbelts, had an accident, the driver was ejected through the windshield, and the girl with him was partially ejected. Meaning she was impaled on the glass windshield until they could remove her and transport her to the hospital where she later died. Now her friends, who never thought this would happen to them or anyone they knew, are grieving for their loss, and the families will never get over losing a child. Not a good way to start the new year. Something so easy, and quick to do, would have saved them so much pain and loss.

I always buckle up. I dont move the car unless everybody is in a seat belt or proper car seat restraint.
I was in a bad accident 3 years ago and my little girl almost died because she was not in her car seat properly.
But someone stopped the car and saved her life.
I know that if I wasnt wearing a seat belt I probably wouldnt be here today. Neither would my sister.
It was a bad crash.
10 years ago my Grandmother died in a car crash, but the seat belt killed her, it snapped her neck.
Her chest was very large and the seat belt never fit her the right way and she was killed.
I always use my seat belt even when I drive a mile down the road.
I always put my kids in car seats and make sure everyone has a seat belt or car seat if needed.

Yes I am that type of person. I put my seat belt on first thing. Today it seems a lot of people are in a hurry to die by not wearing them. I know they save more lives than they take. I'm sorry you lost your friends because they didn't listen to you.. Seat belts are gust as important as having good tires and breaks on your car. More people should study the safety of wearing seat belts, by talking to professionals that know. I will not let anyone ride in my car without wearing a seat belt. I just point blank tell them wear it or walk.

Seatbelts are absolutley essential. I refuse to move the car unless everyone in it is wearing theirs.
I was a passenger in an accident years ago, when the car hit a utility pole at 40 mph. An empty CD case from the back shelf split the back of my head, and my chest was black and yellow with bruising from the seat belt. I hate to think what would of happened without the belt.
No one was seriousley hurt in the accident, because we were all belted in.

My boyfriend's father died in a car accident 10 years ago. It is amazing what a hassle it can seem to put on a seat belt when you have kids screaming or places to go or you just become apathetic about safety in general. One car accident has affected my boyfriends life, his family's life and my life for 10 years. No matter what we do for the rest of our lives, we will miss him and think about him every day for the rest of our lives. Most of us don't think past tomorrow or the next day. We have to see that safey is good for us...that we must take daily measures to prevent bad things to happen to us, because it doesn't just affect us but it affects everyone around us too. Most people won't feel strongly about seat belts until something happens to them...and that is a sad fact.

Seat belts save lives. It is law to wear them. Well in Canada that is. I know it never use to be that way, but now look how many lives are saved from wearing them. Sometimes overweight people don't like wearing them because the belts don't fit, or it cuts into them, and uncomfortable. I know I am overweight too. BUT I still wear mine. Don't want a ticket.

Well its hard to say. My husband didnt have his seat belt on and he was thrown from his truck and got pined under the truck... so maybe he should have had it on . He didnt like them tho. But my dear friend was wearing a seat belt.. but they said if she hadnt been wearing her seat belt she might have lived. I only wear mine when i have to.. like in a big city or when I go on trips far off.. I dont want a ticket if I dont click it.

Yes - anyone who doesnt wear a seatbelt is ignorant and stupid. I have good friends who dont wear them, but they always do in my car. I will not put my car in drive until everyone is buckled.
