Whatever the race, the best measurement is still the BMI (body mass index). There is a separate chart for men and women that shows how much a person SHOULD way at a specific height. It gives you a range so you know what you minimum is and at what point you are bordering on overweight.

There are many sites that have BMI calculators but this is one that I have found to be quite good as it also takes into consideration a person's age. Try and go to http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm to use the online calculator. I have found it to be a useful guide in maintaining my weight.

Computing Ideal body weight is the same for any nationality. For women, 100 # for 5' Add 5# for every inch taller than 5' and subtract 4# for every inch shorter than 5' THEN, determine if you are small, med or large frame. small frame subtract 10% large frame add 10% EXAMPLE: Joan is 5'1" 100# (for the first five feet) + 5# (for the next inch) = 105# Joan is a large framed girl, looking weird with size 9 shoes (ha) add 10.5 (10%) to 105 = 115.5# Sorry for all the math.
