Caffeine is a drug that in large amounts, especially over an extended period of time, can lead to a condition termed "caffeinism." Caffeinism usually combines physical addiction with a wide range of unpleasant physical and mental conditions including nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching (hyperreflexia), insomnia, and heart palpitations.[45] (Under a rigid definition of addiction, meaning a process of escalating use, "caffeine dependency" would be a more descriptive term. However, under the widely accepted definition "chronic pattern of behavior that is perceived to be difficult to quit," caffeine may be said to be addictive.) Furthermore, because caffeine increases the production of stomach acid, high usage over time can lead to peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.[46] However, since both "regular" and decaffeinated coffees have also been shown to stimulate the gastric mucosa and increase stomach acid secretion, caffeine is probably not the only component of coffee responsible.[47]

You need to define "too much" but the risks tend to fall here"
Caffiene in coffee has been linked to coronary vasospasms, the cause for 20% of all fatal heart attacks, increasing the heart rate, and elevating your blood pressure can all contribute in delveloping heart disease. Decaf and regular coffee can increase your cholesterol, anxiety and irritability can be highly affect by lots of coffee as well. You can even have a burning sensation in your stomach area after drinking coffee cause coffee increases the secretion of hydrochloric acid leading to an increased risk of ulcers. Dibetices and hypoglycemics should avoid caffeine completely cause it stimulates a surge in your blood sugar, which can cause a blood suagr crash within hours, and that's not a good sign. Coffee has been known to be a great pick you upper that will perk you up but actually coffee can make you exhausted and fatigue if more then on cup is consumed daily. Caffeine dehyrates the body, and also can be linked to increase risk of stroke and rheumatoid arthritsis. Pregnant women should nver drink coffee cause it can easily pass through the placenta to the developing fetus and it will transfer into the breast milk. Coffee is heavily sprayed crop so with each cup you probably is exposing yourself to a dose of pesticides, not to mention pesticides are linked to prostate cancer, parkinson's disease, and miscarriages. Coffee may not be your worst drink , but it is clear to see that it's not the healthiest liquid to drink. Moderation if the key, try not to drink two cups of coffee per day, but maybe two cups per week.

Sleep loss, dehydration, kidney failure, hypertension, digestive issues, and in extreme cases hallucination.

Everything in your body depends on chemicals and receptors. You have receptors in your brain that signal your body to shut off and sleep. Caffeine fills these receptors, preventing your natural chemistry from working right.

Your body senses that something is wrong, and starts pumping adrenaline into your system. This is what keeps you awake, and it's why you get jittery after too much caffeine.

Caffeine also has good effects. It is a vasodilator, which means that it opens up capillaries for improved blood flow, which is why pro athletes like taking suppliments with caffeine in them.

But as with any drug (yes, caffeine is a drug), too much, too often is not good for your body. Moderation in all things.
