Swing plane refers to the swing path and tilt of your club's shaft back and through a shot.
SWING PLANE
A "plane" is the name given to any flat surface, real or imaginary. A standard window pane can be described as planar. That's a real example. Here's an example of an imaginary plane:
Consider the rotors of a helicopter whirring around so fast that they appear as a blurry disk atop the cabin. That is a planar surface, too. Not because there is anything truly flat atop the 'copter. But because the path swept by the rotor arms remain flat and unwavering.
Well, the term "swing plane" is used to describe the imaginary plane created by your club and your arms as they rotate about your body during the swing.
The idealized "textbook" swing calls for your club and arms to rotate in a continuous arc, without wiggles or waggles from the beginning of the downstroke all the way to follow-through.
If you follow this prescription, then your arms and the club will sweep a flat plane through the air. Just not as fast as our helicopter. But conceptually the same.
Now the plane swept by the rotors of a helicopter is said to be a "flat plane". I.e., a plane that is flat like the surface of a plate or a tabletop.
A Golfer's swing plane can be described by how much tilt it has. The modern "upright" swing is one that creates a plane close to vertical, like a window. The centuries old "St. Andrews Swing" was described as "flat", meaning that the arms and club were swung about the waist, rather than over the shoulders.

This a common, though relatively difficult concept. It is the plane upon which the club should ideally travel during the swing. It obviously cannot be horizontal (like a playground roundabout) or vertical (as a pendulum swing) but is an inclined plane, somewhere between the two.It was visualised in Ben Hogan´s book of the mid-fifties "The Modern Fundamentals" as being like a large sheet of plate glass with a hole in it, through which the player´s head could protrude thereby allowing the plate-glass to rest on the player´s shoulders whilst the bottom edge of the glass plate lay along the ball-target line. This concept ,however, lead to the erroneous belief that the shoulders could also rotate on this same plane whilst in fact they need to rotate on a much flatter plane, related to the angle of the spine, at the address position.
The relatively modern version is; that the ideal plane that the club should swing on, should be, the same as the angle of the club shaft in the address position, until the club shaft reaches a horizontal position, just below waist height, where the club shaft should be also be parellel to the ball-target line and then, as the club continues upwards, the angle of the club shaft should be above and parallel to the original angle of the address position. At the highest point of the backswing, it is then the extended left arm(for a right-handed golfer) that should be parallel to, and above, the extended original club shaft angle. This then reverses in the downswing and is symetrical in the follow-through.

Swing plane is basically the direction of your swing in relation to your setup let me explain. when you set up to the ball you bend over slightly with your back the swing plane is either vertical very flat or somewhere in between. I don't know why its called swing plane its more swing direction. A good swing path is one where you do not have to manipulate the club on the downswing centrifugal force and gravity allow the club to square up to ball because the path is slightly flat slightly vertical a mixed combination create the right angle in which centrifugal force can do its job with a good setup. Your swing plane changes when your not on a flat lie if you're on any sidehill lie it will vary between flat and upright. once again because of gravity. This is swing plane it is the right angle into the golf ball depending on your lie and setup. The only reason golfers had flat swings back in the day is because the clubs were flatter the lie angle on the face of the irons were flat so in order for them to keep it square they had flat swings so in reality their swings were right on track. Just like the modern player the lie angle is more vertical so are there swings it varies between players but the clubs can and will dictate your swing over time.

as quickly as you hit upon it 'interior the dirt' you have got a suitable know-how of the golfing swing. From the element of your question you're no longer there yet. there's no desire so you might insult Freddy Couples and John Daly they do no longer swing over the final. 'over the final' is coaching professional talk on your genuine arm straightens in the previous effect and Freddy and John surely do no longer try this. The swing is an phantasm and this has perplexed you. In a bio-mechanical experience the golfing swing is unquestionably a 2 airplane swing made with the single action. apart from, the palms and clubface have a style of equivalent yet opposite relationship aside from one part of the launch while the two the palms and club react as one. verify issues out through swinging in front of an entire length mirror. the two airplane swing you consult with isn't on 2 planes it somewhat is in reality 2 dimensional. the phantasm of the pivot conceals the third edge of the swing. you should in many situations see a mind-blowing swing instructor and make the prepare fairway your pal so as which you would be able to at last locate it 'interior the dirt'. good success.

It s the circular arc around your body in which the club takes, imagine putting a sparkler on the head of the club and swinging it and it leaving a circular trace. If the swing plane is too vertical or horizontal it can cause problems in your swing such as hooks and slices
