I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for about 7 months. I am always sweet to her. We have not been in one argument. I take care of both her and her daughter. I take them out to dinner, pay for the movies all the time, I clean her house, I drive her every Saturday to pick her daughter up from the dad's house which is about 90 miles from where we live, we laugh together, I let her have full control of the remote, and we spent Christmas together. Recently, I told her that I loved her. She smiled and seemed happy, but she only said "thanks." Does this mean that she just doesn't love me? I don't use the words "I love you" loosely, but I really do love her. I've been miserable in this relationship at times, but I'm in it for the long haul. I know that I must seem whipped, but shouldn't you do things for the person you love? I have gave so much in this relationship. I question what is wrong with me.

I don't think anything is wrong with you. Maybe it's not her time to say "I love you" yet back to you. Everyone has different timing on expressing that feeling. My boyfriend told me that he loved me after being in the relationship after 5 months, and I couldn't tell him "I love you" yet. But I still enjoyed being around him and everything. I was ready, and I told him that I loved him 2 months later.

Just because you said I love you, the partner shouldn't be obligated to say it back unless they are ready to say and mean it too.

Nothing is wrong, you are doing everything right, above and beyond, you are a credit to your gender.
several things may be happening here;
She might not be ready just yet to commit fully to another person
She is using you for her financial comfort
She likes you a lot, it's convenient for her that you are there and helping but she does not love you.
Or she may just need more time.
Make sure you give yourself some sort of deadline as to where this is going and how long can you just be ambivalent as to her true feelings. Don't be pushy, but you can take a vacation somewhere or a weekend off by yourself, see how she likes it when you are not available. She should appreciate the great man that you are, but if she is not in love then you can't force it.

It is very possible that she loves you very much but is just being careful and taking things slow. On the other hand I hope you're not just a conveince for her. My little sister has 3 kids and always has a boyfriend whether she loves him or not.
Best way to know if you're just being used is to find out about her past relationships. Like how many she's had in the previous 2 or 3 years. If it's a lot it's time to re-assess your relationship.

she may be just too shy to say it back

or maybe she wasnt expecting you to say i love u and didnt get a chance to think about what to say next.

maybe she just hasnt got the love feeling yet everyone falls in love at different times, but it doesnt mean that she doesnt care about you.

its better for her to say nothing than to say i love u and not mean it, right?

it sounds like u have l a lovely relationship anyway so dont rush things just enjoy your time together

I have learn the hard way that it is not that they do not love you it is that they do not love you enough. from the sound of it you are a pretty nice guy to her and when some women get a nice guy like you they tend to stick around even if they do not love you. my advice If you feel she is worth it give her time (not to much) I not get out now before it is to late.

You do seem whipped which is not a turn on for women
I would ask her what her feeling are for you as she might just be taking advantage of you
