I would think that it would be difficult to crosstrain from an EOD slot. Is it in stop-loss right now? Ask an in-service recruiter, they should be able to square you away.

Ahhhh the CTN rate. I remember when i first heard of it a few years back and it was invite only. I dont know about now as I got out in 2005 but you can always try :) A better question is why would you want to cross rate to CTN after blowing up stuff. I know it seems like those EOD guys never did anything on my ship :P

EOD is CREO 1 (undermanned) across the board... MILPERSMAN 1160-090 states that personnel in CREO1 ratings are NOT eligible for conversion.

As for becoming a CTN. NAVADMIN 268/06
provides the most current CREO levels for each
rating and has the following note attached after the CTN rating:

THE CTN RATING WILL OPEN UP TO FLEET CONVERSIONS ON 1 OCTOBER
2006. NO PACKAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED PRIOR TO THIS DATE.

Now... a few questions... what unit are you attached to? And what town are you stationed in?
I can get you more info and talk to the CTN rating folks with some more info. Amend your question with the info.

Are you in the navy? Do you understand the CREO groups?

It sounds like you are just a civilian dreaming about multiple, totally unrelated jobs.

My guess is that your chances will be between slim and none. To convert you normally have to be in a CREO Group 3 job and want to train into a CREO Group 2 or 1 job. The navy has a program called Selective Conversion and Reenlistment (SCORE) that allows sailors to do this.

If you intend to join the navy pick a job and stick with it.

I know in the Army it's practically impossible to change an MOS, even after 5 years. Might I suggest finding a similar MOS in the National Guard or Reserve? That's how my boyfriend is changing from Radar to Underwater Engineer. When he tried to re-enlist under a new MOS, they said that he couldn't. If you can find a source to train you as a Crypto Networker, then go for it.

Good luck!

only if EOD changes it's CREO level and if they open up CTN to ratings outside the CT community.(currently only current CTx may crossrate into CTN).
