My Ent said for me to consider removing my sons adenoids. He has had problems since his birth. He has been very congested since 6 weeks old and has been thru more tests then i can imagine for a baby. He also had a staff infection in his nose afer an ENt did a scope and found puss.He is always on antibotics and has chronic sinus infections and as soon as he starts with a cold after a couple of days green mucus starts to come out and even comes out of his eyes, and then were off to the doctors with another antibotic. He is always sick and has had everything from RSV to pneumonia and croop and he is only 2 1/2, every winter must be on a nebulizer to help his breathing and congestion. So I was wondering if anyone has had the same story and if they removed there sons adenoids and what was the results from it and if it helped him in the long run. Did the the child still got sick as much and did it help with the congestion and his breathing. I need some help what to do.

My son had his taken last August. What a difference! He's starting to sleep through the night, hasn't had an ear infection, breaths better. I would listen to your Dr. and go for it. My son was about 2 1/2 when he had his done. We went to the Children's Hospital in our area versus the regular medical center. They deal with children on a daily basis and their training is pretty specific. Good Luck and take care.

Well my brother and I both had the same problem shortly after birth and my adenoids were taken out when I was just under 2 and his shortly after. My mother swears by it and says it helped a great deal. We were also both premature and were having serious congestion problems and were constantly on antibiotics. I am now 24 years old and have not had any sinus problems. My brother is 19 and he has had a few issues with bleeding noses but nothing severe. I think that if you are having that many issues it might be what's best for the boy. Nothing bad came from my experience....I am great full that my mom chose to do it for me.

When I was little, I had a lot of trouble breathing. In general, I could not breathe out of my nose at all and always had to breathe through the mouth. When I was 9, they removed my aednoids and I have not really had any issues since. It sounds like your son may have a few other issues as well, including possibly asthma, so it will unlikely end everything but it will definitely help with his breathing. I don't recall the operation being a big deal, they did my tonsils at the same time and I got to eat lots of ice cream in the hospital :-)

Yes, get the operation to take them out. She will heal faster because she's younger. I had sleep apnea very severely (I had to be on a respirator at night or else I would die). When I was 4 I had my adenoids out and the apnea was GONE forever. I had crazy ear infections before the surgery and since then, I haven't had one. I don't snore anymore.

My friend just had her son's adenoids removed and he is the same age as your little one.

It's a pretty routine surgery and his recovery was very quick. I would take the advice of your doctor and see about havign them removed.

Surgery is a scarry thing for any parent, but it sounds like it could help your situation very much.

I would go ahead and do it; I grew up with a lot of issue and now have a hearing problem because of it. We did not have the money to do anything.
Also check out to see if he has LYME disease. That could be a big factor.

Trust your doctor. The child will be better off after having the operation. This isn't a questionable situation---it sounds like he really needs it.
